I would say that Shula will be around for another year or two. He needs a chance to build the program. I mean with the NCAA hitting them so hard it will take awhile for them to rebuild.
Patience everyone we need to give the boy a chance.

Wait until their feet drop, then shoot them in the face!!
OK, as one of the few Alabama residents and fans on this site, I can tell you this weekend made me want to throw up. I am sick of watching talented players not making plays because of poor coaching. You take these guys and put a coach in front of them that can motivate and coach and you will have a competitive team. A team that will win big on the games they should win and give the other team all they want when going up against powerhouses. As it stands now, we are stuck with a pretty boy that couldn't coach my kids Y football team to a decent win and collects an ass load of cash to boot. I'm sure he'll buy another gold chain to hang around his neck with some of his hard earned $$$. He still has yet to inspire or impress me at all at a post game conference, the post-game show, pre-game, nothing. He can't get through a one minute speech without saying "um" at least 20 times. Ya'll just don't have a clue how pissed Bama nation is right now.
Here's something to think about: 6 wins this year and only 1 opponent (Hawaii) has a winning record, were losing at half-time to super stud opponents Duke, Ole Miss, and Vandy. No doubt would have lost to Florida International had they had a full team. I may be wrong on this one but I'm not too far off: we are 2-12 against Florida, Tennesse, LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas in the Shula era. Dismal. And wonder why Tebow went to Florida?
Now for the fans. I think it is absolutely NO CLASS to wear a friggin' bag over your head at a game no matter how bad things get. If you missed that picture, it was disgusting. Booing the players is another thing that gripes me. The only people that feel worse than the fans is the players. They are the ones that are caught in the middle.
Here's my prediction. He will be forced to make some staff changes this off season if he has any hope of resurrecting a positive fan base. He somehow better pull out a great season next year or the powers that be will be forced to wipe the egg off their face and buy him out. I loved him as a player but he just is not the coach we need. Never was and never will be.
One side note. Some of you may remember my son is a HUGE Mississippi State fan. I like Bama, his mom loves Auburn but he went his own way back in 2000 and has never wavered. Through thick and thin he has pulled so hard for MSU. I have to admit, to see his face when time expired and MSU secured victory, made my year! All the crap he has to take over here about MSU, it was a great day at church yesterday and school today for my Bulldog fan! There was not a happier 12 year old on the planet Saturday than my son.
One last note. I'll tell you another way you can tell Bama nation has soured. One of the docs in my practice (huge Bama fan) bet AGAINST them this weekend. He told me Friday he just had a bad feeling about the game. He went with his gut and won $250 bucks. Bama people just never used to bet against The Tide. My how the times have changed.
I'm sorry the post is long. Just the first time I've vented this year.

Shula shouldn't be a head coach, much better as a recruiter/assitant. I think he might have been what we needed during the probation, and you can over look some of those early loses, but his style of playing isn't working in the SEC. Keep hoping he will turn the offense over to a proven offensive cord, not Dave R. If he doesn't clean house with assistant coaches this year, he may be on his way out. AL has fired a 10-2 coach before.... This will all depend on Auburn, if luck is on his side and he wins this one, people tend to forgive...... Inside the 20, run Jimmy Johns with the option, lets see that Mississippi talent.

Well I'm going to go against most folks feelings on this and state that Shula should stay at least another year or two. I don't feel he is the main problem. Definately need some staff changes though especially the offensive coordinator. Thay have been way to predicable all year. They have way to much talent to be playing the way they have though. But give Shula another year. if Bama can pull off an upset and beat auburn, then the Bama Nation will soften there stance and keep him around.

I agree 100% MS Hunter. I would really like to see a coach in place here in tuscaloosa for the long haul. Dido marshman...... Living all my life here in tuscaloosa, it is sad up here right now. I just hate it for the seniors, they don't call the plays. Bad play calling has cost a game or two this year in my opinion.
