New Thanksgiving Tradition (pics)

Postby Double R 2 » Tue Nov 28, 2006 5:32 pm

Had a great week in Arkansas but nothing tops what was the beginning of a new Thanksgiving tradition. My wife later commented that she really had no idea that birds got so close - boys, those little greenwinged devils were right in her face - or that Delta could possibly be as still and quiet (while she was intently focused on ducks the entire hunt). First hunt for the girls, Forrest's first greenhead and first full limit of ducks, Duncan's first teal and Arkansas rice field hunt; everyone was safe, happy, dry and the ducks showed up in force and for all of that I remain especially and most humbly grateful. Best Thanksgiving I can ever remember...

Is that boy proud of that first shoveler or what?!

Day 2 was less productive, but Forrest smoked a big bull sprig right in the pocket and, miraculously, I coaxed the wife into making a 1/4 mile walk across the flooded beanfield to the pit. I was danged thankful it was dark that morning, too, else I'd of never pulled that off!
