"BIG BROTHERS" for duck hunting

Postby 1deadduck » Tue Dec 19, 2006 8:10 am

Does anyone know of some kids who would like to experience what a duck hunt is like, but don't have a parent who can take them? After hunting ducks for over 30 years, I would like to offer some of my precious few weekends to introduce a child and hopefully his father to the joy of duck hunting from the comfort of a stable boat. Who knows,
maybe "Dad" will be inspired to continue this with his child, which our sport dearly needs. Respond to this site with contact info so we can work out the details. Also, how about some of you other "experienced" hunters?I challenge ya'll to join me in this effort. Let's keep this sport alive :!:

That is a very generous idea, and one that I'm sure you will enjoy..

I don't have any kids of my own, but several years ago, I took a kid who was on a high school tennis team I coached on a duck hunt during the youth weekend. His father is a great guy and is a deer hunter, but didn't do much duck huntin. While the hunt was about average, and cold as he!!, it seemed like he had a pretty good time, but I didn't realize how good until last year. We ran into each other at Ole Miss where he is a student now. He told me that it had been one of the best times he ever had and that he had fallen in love with duck huntin and went every chance he got. It's just a great feeling to know you had a part in something like that. :D

Every year I look for "rental kids" for the youth weekend, sometimes I can find some, sometimes I can't, but when I can it is absolutley wonderful.
