Why is an economic impact statement not required?

Do any other states have similar legislation and if so what has been the impact to their hunt test programs? Did the State ask themselves this question...or even care?

I think it would behoove us to think maybe someone didn't think this thru because of an oversight, or a misteak. Calling names & insulting the people we're asking to change something isn't going to get us very far. Sometimes people make misteaks, and I think this is one. But at least its been caught hopefully in time. Does it make sense they did something on purpose to hurt us, and the state, or maybe somebody didn't realize the effect or the implications of it? Im gonna say someone just didnt realize. lets all show a little professionalism in this matter, and get it changed.
I imagine there are some old beagle clubs in some parts of the state, that probably got some clout. And every hotel you ever stayed in for a mississippi hunt test the owner needs to be called and told to make a call, letter or email. Ive already asked someone to contanct the grenada chamber of commerce and tourism boards, since we have an open dialog with them at the moment. If someone knew someone on the ms state dept of tourism, that'd be huge.
Make no misteak, policy changers and makers do rely on public comment. And its sometime a print out from boards like this (I know cause of the old delta waterfowl and du talks). Please, lets do this right. travis

hunts
It needs to be stressed that unlike bird dog or hound trials we are NOT hunting. We are not using wild game.
We should not need a license to not hunt.

i agree wholeheartedly w/ you travis, honest. as usual, a calm voice is the best one -- i'm still workin on that.
sadly though, there have been so many "decisions" made lately that have left me and many others shaking our collective heads, that this sorta thing seems 1) VERY real and 2) VERY scary.

In spending time and reading this proposal thru in detail, it is my opinion that it is geared to the Coonhound groups. If you have not contacted Dr. Sam Polles or Larry Castle, Chief of Wildlife, I urge you to do so, They are going to encourage you to put your concerns in writting, please do this too. I sent an e-mail this morning and have already gotten a responce back.
The only way MDWFP is going to know how this will effect the retriever clubs is if they hear from us.
