Thank you for posting some truth. The weather is the number 1 reason for a good or bad season.

Thanks for giving us a chance to read the article LA. Hopefully some of their predictions are off a bit concerning future success. It was interesting to read that those who had food ( I guess they mean great quanities of it) even in LA did pretty good.

BATEMAN SAID IT AND I STAND BY IT

Postby River Hunter » Mon Jan 20, 2003 8:57 am

Bateman said "Those birds get educated real quick, and the fewer the ducks you have the harder they become to hunt" also "and that will mean hunters will have fewer days to out smart ever older and wiser ducks" I guess this is why every duck on the river landed in THE MIDDLE OF THE RIVER. They got smart and realized that this is were they are safe. There is no food no nothing in the middle so what other reason would they have other than safty to land there NONE.

I finally saw enough ducks working me on Saturday to have a decent hunt . . . . but didn't. Couldn't keep ice outa the hole and, accordingly, now water movement, was the problem, I think. Didn't flare or scare any, they would come down to have a close look and pass a few times, then mosey on off. i.e. - very wary birds I couldn't trick.

My guess is birds passed through really quickly and wound up in La.
My second guess is they are headed, or already have arrived, back north with this warm weather.

Well, why didn't we see the huge flight down or back up? Cause it was clear and we had a full moon, dummy. Ghost birds, I guess.

Or maybe it is as simple as that Duck numbers are WAY, WAY down.
