loading maps in garmin etrex venture cx

i can't figure out how to get the mapsource maps into this particular gps for $#!+. i am trying to load it for our county search and rescue team. i have the usb cable that fits and also inserted a 1 MB mini sd card. it say's connected on the gps but the auto detect doesn't find it.
i had no problems with my etrex legend and loaded that dude up pretty good.
any help is appreciated.

Not all the mapsource maps are compatible with the Venture if I remember right.

call garmin,they can very helpful.I had the same problem with my ventture cx,turns out I needed the updated version of the maps.dont' have the number right now.they actually sent me the recreational lakes maps for free.costs about $100 bucks ,I think.the guy told me it would be worth a 100 bucks for the free advertising.if I told people how good of customer service he gave me.
