ranger crew

Postby kaustin » Thu Aug 16, 2007 2:48 pm

what do yall think about them. looks like my perfect utv. I have three boys and have been back and forth between ranger and mule trans until this came out. Soon as I can test drive one, I think it will be mine. I'm a little worried about long wheel base, but don't think it will be an issue in corn/bean field. I will keep 4 wheeler for woods when deer hunting.

Why not just buy a jeep? Or a Suzuki? It seems to me that all these super fourwheelers and utv's are just re-inventing the Jeep.

I've got a 2005 Ranger 6 Wheeler in excellent shape I'll sell you for $7000....Put a buggy seat in the back and you are good to go...Very, very stable...Better in the mud than 4 wheeled Ranger....

291 hours, all service records, 2 gun boots, winch, AM/FM/CD, hard top, front windshield (plexiglass), rear windshield (clear plastic), light guards...This has been an outstanding vehicle but I cover 3 states and put over 50K miles per year on my truck so I needed something smaller and lighter to tow...I bought a Rhino for that reason....Rhino is better in the woods, Ranger is better in the fields and for riding around with family...Much smoother ride than Rhino...

Send me a PM if interested.

It would be cool, but you wouldn't be able to use it like a regular 4 wheeler. Like others have said, just get a jeep or a samuri. At least those come with doors and have heat. You can get a suziki samuri and put some mud tires and a snorkle on it for about a grand. Way less than one of those things cost new.

I agree on the jeep.. You can find an old willis jeep for about a 1/4 of that that Ranger will run you..

A) You cant run Jeeps on public land ATV only trails

B) Most farmers dont want you running Jeeps or 4WD trucks in their fields

C) If Jeeps were so great, folks would have never taken to ATVs like ticks to a blue tick

A) Most guys that have $10,000 UTV's don't hunt on public land.

B) I guess, but you aren't taking that thing thru the same stuff as a regular ATV

C) We're talking this huge ranger UTV vs. a jeep, not a jeep vs. ATV's, big difference.

In South Texas we used nothing but jeeps.. ATV don't do you much good in 6' high thorn bushes.. When I moved to MS.. I have to get me an ATV.. Jeeps do you much good in timber..

I agree. Neither would one of those monster Rangers. The regular Yamaha Rhino is about 700lbs. That 6 person Ranger has got to be close to 1500lbs.

I'm with Hammer

Postby gunner » Tue Aug 28, 2007 7:56 am

I'm with Hammer on this. I don't understand why people use the "get a jeep" argument.

Here is my thing. If I'm going to spend ~$10K, I'm going to get something I can use on private and public land. Why buy the jeep, when you can't use it on both places? That limits you. And don't give me the "Well, you can also drive the jeep on city/county roads" bit. That's not the application he is buying it for.

Just my opinion..

Get the Ranger!!
Be where they want to be..

The purpose of the Jeep is to not spend the 10K..
