Shock Collar

Postby bulldog ducker » Fri Sep 07, 2007 3:11 pm

Got a 4 month old choc and I am in the market for a collar. Which collar is the best for the money? Where is the best place to find one? I almost bought a sportdog 800 from http://www.gundogsupply.com cause they are located in Starkville but decided to get some opinions first. Will I ever need more than 800 yrds (I dont see me working him ar 800 yrds)? I know that is alot of questions but just give me your opinions. Thanks in advance.

Don't jack around. Get a tri-tronics collar. You will eventually, anyway.

Dogtra 1200 NC

I've got 3 sets of TT's in the closet, roughly $750/each. They have all been refurbished by The Collar Clinic for several hundered dollars and will not hold a charge for more than a day or two.

TT is my choice. Have had two models and now have one of the G3 series and love it. Compact and unlike GH22, I can go out for a weekend and not recharge all weekend. Maybe I am just lucky, but like GC said just get the TT to start with. I know some guys that have had some good luck with Collar Clinic, me personally bought mine from gundogsupply because one they are local and they have great service,.......oh yeah and they were the 1st ones to get the g3 series and I wanted one. But as far as my dealings with them they have been great. Whether it be a $300 collar or a $25 dokken they make you feel like they care and you just don't get that many places these days.

Good luck and get you an instructional video of you have never CC a dog. JMOP Lardy has a good one and there is many more ask Steve at GDS about which one they prefer.

GH22 got sum kinda burmedua triangle thingy going.

Ive got a pro 500 xls 2 dog with the old style big tube transmitter. my training partner steve used it everyday for a year (15 dog pro) before I got it. he liked the small transmitters, I like the big one, so I got his. Ive had it for 2 years now. train 5-6 dogs everyday and I charge them maybe every 3 weeks. Ive never had a collar I had to charge more than once every 2 weeks. travis

Two of the "waterproof" trasmitters weren't waterproof at all. The batteries will not stay charged on the collars, even after being replaced and refurbished. You have to leave the collars on charge 24 hrs and hope they make it the next day before having to put them back on charge.
