I dont know both sides of the story, however I do know that lease land does come up for lease from time to time and if someone bid higher$$ per acre or planted or harvested for the land owner, the the land owner has every right to lease to whoever is going to give the land owner the best deal..... just my opinion

you say he got you "KICKED OFF" you land please explain if you dont mind
Thanks
Bruce

I was given Jesse's name by 2 people who I have great faith in. Both have great dogs and have been around this stuff enough to know who to and who not to buy dogs from. So what if they (Jesse and Kevin) go to the same hunt test or belong to the same club. Just because Charlton Hesston is a Member of the NRA does NOT mean that he and I are running buddies if I am a member of the NRA. What happened with the land is simply a matter of ethics. He has hundreds possibly thousands of acres he can hunt...How would me and 2 of my buddies hunting on 50 acres of land back in the middle of nowhere effect him??? NONE WHATSOEVER. Now back to the part of me being associated with Jesse. I spoke with him several times over the phone while interviewing different breeders about their pups. He was very up front and honest about everything I inquired about. I wasn't meaning to knock people who have dogs trained by pros, I will tell you that Jesse has Dutch right now and is going to try to put the finishing touches on him. I will give credit where credit is due, and I will also take credit when it is due me. Stano force fetched Dutch in 2, yes (2) 15 minute sessions on the table. I trained him to sit on the whistle and hand signals. Every neighbor around me here at our new house in Hernando has nothing but praise for how well behaved Dutch is. One neighbor even bragged to some of his buddies on how good a dog he was, I will take credit for his obedience training. Jesse is going to take him where I had him and "finish" him so I will give that credit to him. I am glad you were able to sell your dog for $5,000 that is great. I am no pro trainer, never claimed to be one, without help all Dutch would be is a big ol brown dog, but since I got some help with training and am getting more help as we speak he is going to be a valuable asset on upcoming hunting trips. I am sorry if any of this thread has offended anyone else, but when someone wrongs me (or I feel I was wronged by an individual whether I actually was or not) it leaves a very sour taste in my mouth, I have a VERY good memory and can hold a grudge for an extremely long time.

D1.....They got to telling the actual landowner that he needed to cut out ALL hunting on his property. They own a lot of land around it and just wanted it all for themselves. (It's only 50 acres of swampland/cutover of which about 20 acres is "huntable") They convinced him that there were nothing but a bunch of outlaws hunting back there and he needed to stop all hunting and let them "oversee" it for him. Well, gluttony which is a form of greed is not a good thing. It had nothing to do with lease prices or anything like that just a greedy individual who is trying to "become" someone. I can only hope that I am in a position some time later in life to influence something or someone away from doing anything gainful for the James family. I saw an opportunity here and I jumped on it, I will continue to do so every chance I get whether it be on here or not. I have stated before that I am a meat hunter when it comes to deer, over the 8 years we got to hunt that place we killed several does, a couple of 4 points, and one 8 point with bow/arrow. 1 spike (very 1st deer ever off that place) and 1 doe with rifle. We never exceeded the limit and certainly didn't hurt the deer population. So if they want to convince the landowner that we were outlaws killing everything off the place and create a negative image of us for their own gain, then I have absoultely no respect for them whatsoever. It's kinda ironic that the game warden kevin brought into the woods with him that morning to nab us "outlaws" immediately recognized me as being a helper with the hunter safety program. I went back to Horn Lake High School for about 5 years in a row after graduation helping out with the program...helping to teach the program, teaching the kids about the different types of shotguns, rifles muzzleloaders etc. and also doing a little exhibition shooting with bow/arrow. (at the time I shot for High Country Archery).

who do you think you talked too?

Yeah, you got lots of recommendations about Jesse Shephard. Some from Chance, Goose, and myself, that I know of... I was the one who sent you the long PM about Rebel and Mattie. I've known Jesse for a LONG time now, and he will do anything for anyone he meets. I've hunted with him for years, been to his house training dogs numerous times, and rode around with him and Miss Patsy at all kinds of hunt tests. Great guy.... I just took, as you say, the opportunity to toss in a little satire into someone's eyesight.

I don't care what happened in the deer woods. Even if I was involved, it wouldn't bother me to the point of slandering someone to death. So what if they conn'd someone out of giving permission over their land? Nobody died over it. Did you call Kevin up and explain your views? Did you meet with him and the land owner? It don't matter how many acres they got up there... that's their business, not mine. Sounds more like you are sore over losing what doesn't belong to you. If you were really in good with the land owner, he wouldn't have believed them for saying ya'll were outlaws. Did you ask for alligations? Did you ask for proof?

My point is, and this is just my opinion (and I know that everybody has one), but I don't think its good practice to use this message board to cut into someone else's name without them being able to defend it. That's going behind their back. If they've done wrong, it will come back around to them.

This is like saying Walmart Supercenters shouldn't sell groceries because they got enough stuff to sell.... and then posting up flyers about your views at all the K-marts.

I spoke with Mr. James, and he was extrememly helpful. He gave me a few names of people to talk too and told me about his trainer. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not looking to cause anyone to get upset. I'm just trying to find a dog. Thanks for the help.

I spoke with Mr. James the other day. He was very helpful and gave me some names of people to talk too. He told me about his trainers, and a lot about the breed. Thanks for the help.

I'm not trying to get anyone upset with anybody. I'm just trying to find a dog. Thanks again.

Try Glen McElroy,He's the one that trained that Bo fellows dog. That dog came from a fellow in Jonesboro. My friend has bought from him before and also got a pretty good dog out of the deal.Sounds like that man(jonesboro)breeds some pretty trainable litters. If you can't get ahold of Glen McElroy(Magnolia Retrivers)then try Chris Akin.He used to do training on this Jonesboro mans Chessies so he will be able to put you in touch with him.I've had 2 Chessies from different breeders and neither one turned into a dog.Don't be to hard- headed and run a black bitch......
