Catfishin jugs??
Catfishin jugs??
Anyone got a good design other than the standard coke bottle/ milk jug thing? We have always used the milk jugs/coke bottles and others but they just take up so much room in the boat. Had to get a bigger boat cause of all the dekes during duck season and milk jugs in the summer. Anybody got any good ideas they wanna share?

Reb, let an old dawg help you out! Use 20oz plastic coke bottles. I know they take up room but that'sthe way it is. I've used 5gal buckets with tops as carrying cases. Also, I've used plain ole 30 gal plastic garbage bags to carry em in.
Paint them florescent green. That color works good day or night.
5 foot of monofiliment line (20lb) with two eagle claws rigged on there.
two or three rounds of black electr. tape around the caps make a good place to set the hooks during storage.

My grandfather used 2 old oil cans...you remember when they use to come in cans that look like paint cans..quart size...anyway somehow they welded them together end to end tacked an "eye" on there to tie the line to and away they went. He also has got some spray paint cans turned end to end, welded together these are facing each other on the ends where the spray button use to be, once again with an "eye" welded on either end to tie the line to. We used them 2 years ago on the big muddy and these cans are over 20 years old and they worked perfectly.

I use the 2 liter coke bottles. My dad and his friends used to use 2 coffee cans welded together. They bought cans from the coffee company that cans the chicory coffee for cafe du monde in new orleans. the cans were about 6 or 7" tall and 4-5" in diameter. The welded 2 cans together end to end. these wouldn't save you much room over the 2 liter's.
I have also seen commercial made foam "jugs". these looked like those barbell shaped marker buoys and had reflective tape on them and were pre rigged. the would help alot on space, but were about 5$ each and I don't know how they would hold up with bigger fish.

Hey ya'll, 20oz bottles work fine for me. They take less space. However, if you hook a 30-40 pounder he's more likely to get deep enough to wrap himself up down there.
Reb, you didn't have to go and get huffy about 24. He usually brings out that behavior in certian "types" though. Maybe if NASCAR added 10 more plate races Jr might get to win a championship.

There lies the body of Mary Lee,
she died at the age of one hundred and three,
for sixty-three years she kept her virginity,
not too bad for this vicinity.
Or something like that. Another line from Jaws. A really good movie....
