Travs, I never heard from you all about MSBAMA, so I didn't send in a premium. For a while you all were talking about not going, or Glenn not judging. I never heard anything back on the matter so I figgured you all were going to run somewhere else. Wish I would have known I would have sent in a premium. Especially if there was gonna be a contingent there to watch!! HEHEHE But man that timber is rough on a S. Louisiana dawg, we aint got many trees w/ water and no gators to train in. Granted most of our other spots have gaotrs too, but at least you can see them in open water.

Jeff, Ive been so out of it with these stones..plus karen's gone every weekend taking care of her folks (they're dying).. its been wild. I need another hunt this spring (besides hatchie) to put me where I need to be to 500 in the fall, so thats why i was thinking of hitting msbama. But we got some young dogs, we need another hunt to CH this spring.. and they need another week after we're through with grand stuff. So I'm going to stay home that weekend with tj, and we're going to deep east texas instead. 30 there, and 30 at hatchie, will put me at 380... I can pick up 120 in the fall I know. Glen couldnt get out of judging (he wouldnt weasle out, he just asked all the while telling them he'd honor his word, classy) msbama, he called me last night to tell me hes gonna run one and judge one. Dang... too late, I got plan b going. Plus todd was gonna go, he's got a young one that needs to hr this spring (one of rowdy's future bitches, hehe), but now he got a hernia.. part of his guts pushing on his belly.

TJ got a fishing pole for Christmas. He was too wild to start at 3 like drew and ty did. 5 years old now, hes late starting. That fishing pole aint got wet yet. The weekend after the grand, that boy gonna catch a fish. Might do it this weekend, but hes for sure going to do it then. Really, with everything else, and all the other reasons, thats the kicker. Me and him went to drivein tonight after training.. he thought it was kewl to take rowdy to a movie. travis

Josh, whut is REALLY "@#$%#" up about it... is steve and I both NEVER get sick unless its at a hunt test. I asked him in feburary if he thought maybe he was algeric to hotel rooms. He was as sick at tn river in feb, as I was in LA last fall (where I ended up taking a dog's antibotics to get better). travis

My best hunting buddy, Jeb, is an 8 year old yellow lab. He is 92 lbs and has a tall, thoroughbred horse type build. I got him as an 8 week old puppy from a breeder in Delaware. I started training him with the great help of more knowledgable friends. It was soon obvious thast ole Jeb was much more talented than the average dog (and his owner !), so I invested in some professional training. We got into the AKC hunt test program and Jeb has qualified in 4 out of 4 Master National Hunt Tests, the record for dogs from Mississippi. He also is Qualified All Age in field trials with a first place finish in a qualifying event, one of the few field trial events he has run. But, his great contribution is as a heavily used duck dog. I sometimes marvel at some of his long retrieves on winged ducks. He hunts out of boats, tree blinds, stands, pit blinds or anywhere else you can find.

He loves to hunt and also to run in hunt tests. My next goal is to get a puppy out of him to continue the family. He is a house dog and very gentle, but a tiger in the blind and in the field. He has been one of the greatest joys in my life. I am very lucky to have him.

Apache. What can I say? Homegrown right here from Sky Lake Kennels. He was 86 pounds when I weighed him back in the winter. He retrieves doves, ducks, geese, cormorants, nutria, otter, beaver(the little ones), turnips, Coke bottles, tennis balls, shoes, sticks, corn on the cob in the duck hole, screwdrivers, wrenches....what have you. Oh yeah, he loves to walk around the big truck when we load fish and catch the ones that slide off of the top. He even jumped out of the boat once and into a sock with about 80,000 pounds of fish(How he made it out without getting finned, I don't know). He goes along with me on the trap line and locates coons that wandered off before they succumbed to death (usually just a few feet away in the brush) and retrieves all the nutria that I "throw back".

Man, he really loves my little 3 year old girl and watches Duck Commander with me on TV. Yep, he really does watch it. I have only seen a few dogs that will watch tv. Heck, he's probably waiting on that MS Outdoors show that was "supposed" to air this fall. Yeah, we both got duped I guess.
