I'm always amused when a fella shows-up with about 3 boxes o' shells strapped to his waders..........bandoleras, belts, double-row belts, clip-ons, pouches........all that campflage and all that shiney brass negating every bit - showing for miles....................not ONE shell-loop is empty.............every damn loop has a shell in it......a good 3 boxes worth............ Like he's gonna be out there for a month or something.

Thats simple, the reason for this is self defense.
Obviously you've never been physically attacked by a hundred or more rabid mallards with blood thirsty intentions.

I thought that was standard issue for self defense on public lands.

I have to admit.

I needed all three boxes one time. I was that guy. We were wade hunting in W. Louisiana shooting divers as they passed buy. Water to you ribs, trying to keep your balance in 30degree temps, while blasting ringnecks shooting buy at 237 mph. Man it was fun but those six birds came at a price. :D

This post really made me laugh. :D

#4 the "Whistledick".......D.B Arnes.....married, early 30's and thinks he loves duck hunting....D.B is always combing the net looking for a new club, mutual frat members or just talking about duck hunting related things like Browning vs Remington or Avery vs Drake, HRC vs AKC or face mask vs head net. He has been smoked a couple of times on some "leases" near Crowder but thinks he's found a home. D.B hides his calling weakness by loading up his lanyard with a Drake buzzer, pintail whistle and a woodie squeller. D.B. is that member that always asks the dog handler "is that greenhead banded?". he is not shy about claiming his duck before it hits the water too. True to Whistledick form he pulls his AtV trailor behind his Company Van which dwarths its by almost double. D.B is bad about leaving his decoys in a hole to claim it. Other members could care less since they routinely shoot the heck out of them. D. B. is a good guy though, he trys to fit in but can't drop those Whistledick tendencies. he actually believes farmer brown cares about the water level in the honey hole. he shoots an automactic 10 gauge sometimes( says it for geese). And always gathers up everyone's limit to pose by himself for a hero pic. Not to mention constantly rechecking every mallard for a band and pulling all the curlys after the hunt. And he's not shy to ask you "hey do you want your ducks?". D.B has never missed a work weekend or a due date on his lease check but just can't seem to shake those Whistledick habits.
