Who runs it? In 1986 I went on a two day paid hunt at Lulu Brousard's place and it was awesome! I know it was eons ago, but was told it is pretty much still like that as the guys I went with go every year for like the past 35 years! I call my old friend about this time of year just to see how his trips went. He goes twice a year to Gueydan and 3 times to hunt geese in Tx.! :( Wish I had his time and $!

I was a trainer for Opelousas Othopaedic Clinic in Opelousas, LA right out of college and the clinic was actually a member of that club, if it's the one I'm thinking about. There are 2 camps down there with a name like that, Gueydan Hunting Club and Hunting Club of Gueydan. I only got to go teal hunting but, even that was great!! It's not a super nice all decked out camp house like some people expect, but you'll have a great time. Sort of looks like your regular hunting camp. Get up early, grab some coffee, get on the truck and ride to the blind, hunt, then come back and eat breakfast, FULL COURSE MEAL, while they clean your ducks for you! Great guids and they usually REALLY good dogs as well!

Either one, you can't beat duck and goose hunting in Gueydan, LA!!! You should get your limit on Specks for sure, as well as get you a nice Pintail!!!

just got back from a 14 day trip in that area. Probably only about 30% of the geese that they usually have are down there and the ducks flew well on the rainy days. folks in the marsh are pumpin em but rice aint doin so hot right now.

Thanks, guys for the input. It wouldn't surprise me if their bird numbers are off- we have been having an off season here too.I have been in love with south La. since I moved out of Houma and Dulac in 1976. Can't seem to convince my wife to move there with me (She's afraid she'll become a fishing widow!!) Anytime, and I mean anytime I get around coon-asses with their sense of humor and fabulous food, I have a LARGE time- regardless of the hunt. I'll be thinking about all you po' boys here while were rejoicing L.S.U."s win down there and eating gumbo and boiled crabs :D

Houma- Dulac...there were more ducks down there on Lake Mechant on New Years Eve than I've seen in years. Hope you had a good trip.

Pntlhntr and Dougatkins6-
Ya'll were both right. I just returned from the Gueydan hunting club Saturday afternoon. We were going to hunt till Sunday, but the ducks weren't flying very well and since a club member was paying our way, we didn't want to spend his money on a hunt we wouldn't spend our money on, so we packed it in. The camp was as comfortable as I was hoping it would be and the food was also. The guides were very friendly and helpful, but they can't make ducks appear in the sky. We both had a very good time and would recommend this club to anyone who wants to hunt in south Louisiana. We killed 8 ducks in 3 hunts, but had full limits of good food and fun with some genuinely good people. Hats off to Bert Stander for hosting us, our guides John, Gerald and Tony and finally to Mr Lester who wanted this Mississippi boy to have a good time and picked up a $165 bar tab I ran up Thursday night. I WILL BE BACK!!!
