I have been all over the country and part of the world and home is where you make it - I like Mississippi - and I like living here – People will stop and help you when you need it - I was born and razed in Alabama around Orange Beach, when there were only a few people there, and no condos. Know I don’t like to go there; it has grown up so much - Think I will just stay right here in Mississippi

Anywhere except Wayne County. My wife and I talk about this very topic all the time. We would move right now if we could both get jobs in the same town. Anyone have a job opening?

If we stayed in Mississippi we would want to live somewhere in Northeast Mississippi, maybe Tupelo. If we left Mississippi we would like to live somewhere like in North Georgia or the west part of North Carolina. My dream place would be Wyoming or Montana. Everyone I know that goes out there hunting wants to move out there.

Whitefish, Montana in a small cabin just outside my favorite place on earth -- Glacier NP. Hopefully, I'd have a front porch view of the Flathead River. Most likely, I'd be found at either Great Northern Brewery or Whitefish in the evenings for a quick round.

After which, I'd beat it home for a minute or two worth of Caddis or Green Drake bumpin' on the swift water out front of the porch. While not a renowned duckin area, whislers (goldeneye's) could be fun churning down the rivers or a bit of hot water huntin' for big, bachelor Greenheads year long -- 70 days/7 ducks.

What the area may find lacking in ducks would be replaced by the Blue, Franklin and Ruffed grouses of the mountains. I would be fine.

I don't think the dog stuff will suffer must. Dry heat in the summer, cool mountain streams to relax in after a day's training and actual season's to plan for will be a nice replacement to 100% humidity and low 80 temps of this area -- and that's just in January.

To a man (and if DoubleR is reading, you too), I'd probably put the shotgun down far more there. I'd replace it with a stick and string and hopefully fulfill what I think is "my dream hunt" -- a couple weeks in the backcountry chasing Bighorn sheep.

Honestly, the fact I'd have to decide on whether to go skiing on a day's off time or hunting may be a bit of cognitive overload to my wee brain. But, it'd sure to be nice a nice decision to make.

If the wife needs a bit more "folks", Kalispel is just down the road and Great Falls a bit further. Each much the same as Whitefish, but each sporting their differences as well.

Their, that's my holy grail.

Close seconds are the areas of Billings, MT and Sheridan, WY. I actually had a job offer from hospital there a few years ago, running their chemo operations. Flew out, saw the town, and skied both Red Lodge and Big Sky. Enjoyed myself immensely, but at the time, I wasn't married and had no real prospects. This, in my humble opinion is it's one very real flaw. Given the drastic temps seen throughout this area and the disclosure of understanding what most single women look like up there, I found myself unwilling to move there alone.

Also, these towns had a bit too much "buffalo" history (read, plains areas, butted up to mountains) for my liking, and both are fairly "industrial" burgs making a hard life for most a very real circumstance.

For women, the south has NO MATCH. Though, areas such as Denver (almost a mountain town) do attract quite a few, as noticed by 4 months spent there a few years back. For the unmarried college and highschool folks reading this --- it DOES MATTER.

Closer to home, and given the motivation to move, I'd put a stamp on the area in and around Columbia, Missery. Clean and a mostly Caucasian population, would make this college town a nice place to live. It's a fast growing area, so the cleanliness will probably suffer unless current politics and strategies are sound.

Nice place for duckin too. Four distinct seasons, this area has a rich duckin history as witnessed by areas such as Swan Lake CA, which was once heralded as the Goose Hunting Capital of the world.

There's my Chamber of Commerce post for the year, gator
