My rule of thumb is that if MY dog ever shows his teeth to me...the first time I would cross his eyes with my hand or boot. Second time he is gone. I say this because when I was correcting my dog when he was a pup he growled and snarled at me and "showed his teeth"...i then attempted to rearrange them for him. Since then he is as docile as a baby. Problem solved and he has never in 4.5 years.

pace

Postby jdbuckshot » Wed Jan 23, 2008 8:20 am

if you walk unannounced in my house, you better hope ole pace gets blue jeans and not skin, she'd eat you! Nothing wrong with a dog that is protective. Now a dog that is uncontrollable is another thing. i would TELL the guy not to bring his dog back, if he doesnt like it, tell him to find another camp!

Im like bigbeeducker, you go to shooting a mans dog you better get ready for a whipping, the only person that is gonna decide when its time for my dog to go is me!

Besides i think dogs have alot better judge or character then Men, probably got bit for a reason!

Kill the dog. IMMEDIATELY! Pure and simple. If the dog bit somebody unprovoked, then it will eventually 'bite the hand that feeds it'; or worse - - a child that is just trying to play. Then, after the dog is dead, have a necropsy performed to see if there is a medical reason for the attack. This will help others around your camp, as well as the victim.
Nobody owes you anything.

second that.....I wouldnt shoot another mans dog even if it bit me(assuming its not attacking me), I would be inclined to send a man to the hospital for shooting my dog, but I can honestly say my wife would go out of her way to kill the man who shot our dog

Dog must attack you to bite you. I know you may think Hes your pet but its a animal attacking ME. If I did not shoot it you will or the vet will after the court order.

For those that said "shoot the dog" he said that he wasn't there. How could he possibly know enough about the incident to be certain that it was unprovoked? I'm all for banning the dog from the camp, but shoot it for an incident that he didn't even witness, come on!

I agree.. You might want to try the ban first. Ban the dog. If that doesn't work ban the owner..

I am curious on what type of dog it is also.. I mean if it is a Pit Bull that is completely different than if it is a poodle..

no room for a bad tempered dog or an irresponsible owner. tell the man don't come back with the dog. If it was a neighbor or something like that, i would be pushhing for the dog to be put down for sure.

I got a pit bull and an american bulldog. Neither has ever bit anyone. If they do bite someone, I will decide if the dog was in the wrong or if he was just protecting himself. Who did witness it. The guy that got bit might have provoked the dog and after he was bit he said the dog just bit him.

You shoot my dog, you get your booty whipped. I don't care if you are the f*ckin President of the United States.

Give him a pat on the head, cook him a steak, and get him an ice cold bowl of antifreeze.

It was a yellow lab and my dad saw the attack. If the guy wouldn't have had a boot sock on it would have been real bad, cause it still drew blood, and left a hell of a bruise. Ohh yeah the lab was ten years old.
