UM Mascot change talk ??
whether you like The Rebels or not, what's your opinion on this ? just one more step in attempting to appease the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, etc etc etc ?? I personally don't see how it could even be the same school if they change the mascot. It's all talk right now, nothing really in the works to do it, but it's gotten alot of publicity the past few days.
col. rebel
will never happen...if it does, we can expect to see a lot less funding thru alumni to the school.

I feel that it is the same load of crap that the politically correct or shoving down everyday.
This country has gone to the pits and there is no doubt about it. UM can't get good athletes because of the Rebel flag and the Rebel mascot. What a load of crap. It makes you want to raise a damn rebel flag in your front yard. I have never in all the years I lived here looked at the UM mascot and had racial thoughts. I have however looked at a bunch of these red necks that use the flags as a racial jab at the blacks as distasteful but it is no more distasteful than a black walking around in African clothes with an African flag on their Cadillac and have never set foot out side of Mississippi. It is a one sided issue and the white people let it happen. So as far as I'm concerned if they change the mascot the whites deserve it.
This crap just pisses me off

I got another approach on this...
I say we drop Colonel Rebel and the name Rebels, so our sorry coaches can no longer hide behind these symbols as an excuse to cover their overpaid, underachieving arses...David Cutcliffe makes around $800,000 and he has not won squat...Rod Barnes makes around $600,000 and he has not won squat...Bianco is just getting started and African athletes are not a factor in college baseball, but yall get the point...Ole Miss athletics is average at best in football and basketball and I am sick of it...Our school and its alums thrive in almost everything else we do, so it makes no sense to accept mediocrity in athletics...Ole Miss should finish 1st or 2nd in the SEC West every other year, win the SEC once every five years and finish in the Top 5 nationally once every ten years or the coaches arent doing their jobs...Anything less is mediocrity and heads should roll...
Drop Colonel Rebel as the mascot and Rebels as our nickname and start firing coaches if they dont win and win big shortly thereafter.
HAMMER
PS Dont dare change the name "Ole Miss"...Simply add a new nickname like "Ole Miss Bluesmen" or something to that effect...

what a load of crap.....
you know - I was somewhat OK with the flag going away but Col. Reb MUST stay. The next thing you know...KFC will have to get rid of Col. Sanders. There are limits to the changes that can be made to TRADITION.
I wish these folks (whoever they may be) would start focusing on why our state's publicly educated 4th graders rank dead last in the nation according to the latest standardized test results. It sure isn't because of Col. Reb.

You don't hide the fact that internet message boards hurts your feelings.

By the way, your location definitely hints inferiority complex.

It's just a joke. Relax.
Uh-oh....Looks like the mascot isn't the only thing Ole Piss should worry about:

Is the Ole Miss band no longer allowed to play Dixie? Seems I havent heard them play it in several years now.
I know it was once played with regularity.
I was wondering, did the song go, the same time the rebel flag went away?
BTW, what is the song played after a score nowdays? I'm not familiar with it!
Yes!!! All these questions are coming from a State fan,... BUT, stupidity is stupidity, no matter what colors you wear on gameday.
Good luck on this one, Johnny Rebs!!!!
