Promise Keepers - Jackson
It's a shame that a ministry as large as PK doesn't get any publicisim. You do not hear it advertised on radio or TV. It's not going to be in the statewide newspaper either. Too many people in this world like "AJ" will see to it that it doesn't happen. Jackson is probably the smallest venue that PK will visit. I've been to the conference in Dallas that held 3 times the capacity.

Hey DuckyDan,
Don't worry about offending anyone. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am so tired of changing my way of life to make sure the minorities are comfortable. Yes, everyone has rights, but this country is based on majority rules. However, Just look at us today. Prayer is out of school. Gays are getting married. All of this started because we didn't have the backbone to offend someone. No, No, I think it is about time we start offending people. That maybe the only way we can get through to them.

Be where they want to be..
Gunner, don't ever believe for a minute that prayer is out of public schools. Today, more than any time in my 24 years of public education, more students are meeting for prayer and Bible study before and after school or at lunch. No, it is not in the curriculum, and, no, it is not mandated by the administration. Nor should it be! But, every child in America is entitled to worship as they please and that includes at school, as long as it does not disrupt the mission of the school. Last semester, over 400 students met before school and prayed around the flag pole at my daugher's school in support of our troops in Iraq. President Bush's "No Child Left Behind" Act makes it a crime for a local school administrator to prohibit the free exercise of prayer at school. Fellowship of Christian Athletes is more popular than ever with hundeds attending every Thursday night at schools all over our district. All of this in a suburb of that heathen place, Atlanta!
Remember this...Schools don't create culture as much as they reflect the culture of the community around the school. If there is not enough prayer going on in the school, I'll dare to bet you there are not enough adults praying in the community around the school! Whatever a child is immersed in out in the community, that's what he brings to school with him...be it guns, drugs, or prayer!
Pray for your schools and their leaders. They need it. Pray for your children. They need it. Help your children find the ways that are available to exercise their faith at school. I think you'll find there are many more ways than you think. It just takes leadership!

That sure is strange..........after all, this is the 'bible belt'. You would think the media would be demanded to advertise such a spetical.

I truly believe that if the silent majority in this country stood up and spoke out for what they believe, then half of the crap going on in this world would cease. If more men, women, and children would look to GOD first, instead of as a last resort or even not at all, then there would be alot less violence, drugs, death, etc. in this world. God will help you but only if you ask Him to, and you have to truly believe in Him. He saved my life, so I know from experience.
Yep, you would think so. But since it's a liberal dominated media market with no core or moral values, you are not going to see it advertised.
Sorry AJ, you are not going to win this argument on this topic on this board. Too many good people on here with ethical, moral backgrounds. Whose moma and daddy instilled values into them at an early age. People who know right from wrong... If you would like, I'd be happy to take you out to lunch and talk personally with you and pray with and for you. Just me and you, no message board......

P.S. AJ,
If you want to know how He saved my life, ask me and I will tell you all that I have been through and how I still believe in God as my personal saviour. No, I am not perfect, as no one else on this Earth is, but I do pray and go to church. You should try it sometime. Life is alot more than duckhunting or an internet chat board.

crow,
I see what you are saying, but you missed my point. I know students can pray by student led prayers. BUT DID YOU KNOW that the ACLU is taking prayer away from our high school ball games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVEN STUDENT LED! EVEN IN MISSISSIPPI! I know because my school was one that was ripped off from this privilege. All because of a few who felt uncomfortable with it.
Now, like I said, most student led prayer is still in school. However, can't you see the trend. 1) no prayer led by faculty and staff
2) no prayer by students
3) no public prayer by ANYONE
When is enough, ENOUGH.
You are right about leadership. If someone would have taken the lead when the first anti-christian movement came along, we probably wouldn't be in this mess. Anyways, I'm not mad at you. I just wanted to make sure you saw my point.

I'm with you gunner! I've been fighting this battle for a long time. I know what you mean and agree in principal with what you say; I just believe that one may defend the Constitution and exhibit personal Christian faith within that defense. Truth be known, I don't want some of the people I've known in the schools to be the ones to tell my children how and what to pray or believe. That's my responsibility as their father! I also believe that public prayer is not what we are called to do. Too much of it is for show. I do believe Jesus himself rebuked the Pharisees for their public displays. Nobody has ever kept me from praying for the safekeeping of players at a game, however. Fact is, not many know I'm doing it. And, I don't believe God needs a loudspeaker to hear my prayers! We can be a public example without it being a public display. That's all I got to say about that.
While we're speaking on prayer...ya'll pray for my wife as she's on the road back to Yazoo City to see her folks this week.
