yea, we ate a few as kids we killed with pellet rifles.
our fathers had given us the ole'eat what you kill' speech.
we were about at the right age to understand what tey were talking about.
3 of us ate a robin, but buddy of ours had to eat a wood pecker.
the bird killing slowed way way down after that.

Great way to teach a lesson

Ok, next question. Are they legal to shoot. I figure cook them like a dove with cream cheese, jalapeno and bacon and they cant taste bad.

Re: Robins
Ace I went out with a buddy 20 years ago to a robin roost. We must have shot 100 or so. When we arrived at home we started showing off our kill. His father(my godfather) said well might aught to get to cleaning looks like it's going to take you boys a while. Long story short as far as I can remember they did not taste too bad. Of coarse that was quite some time ago and I do not think I would go shoot a Robin to eat for dinner, but if I was out in the wild I would definantly throw one on a fire if I was hungry.

You aint been hunting till you been river huntin

Re: Robins
They are definetly highly illegal to shoot unfortunatley. However they are IMO much better than a dove. I know my dad loves them. When we were kids and the robins would show up he would outfit me and my buddies with pellet guns and all the pellets we could shoot. The deal was we had to try and rid the golf course behind the house of robins. We used to put a major dent in the population and my dad absolutley ate them up.
