Po MonK,
Mike Moore, as in the former AG? If so, will he not eventually be tied in with this also?

Yep, THAT Mike Moore. I am not really sure what to make of this development either. My best guess is in my previous post.
I had thought that a deal had been worked out for Zach during the early part of last week pending what happened with Papa Scruggs and Backstrum. Then when those two pled, I assumed ---like most ---that the deal with Zach would go through --- that he would plead guilty to one count and face at least one year in prison, paying fines, and forfeiting his law license. Then it appeared that he had second thoughts, and the deal was simply a delay of prosecution in exchange for him voluntarily forfeiting his law license in order to buy more time to decide on a plea deal. It could be that Judge Biggers did not go along with the proposed delay of the trial. And now Zach and his counsel face today's plea deadline, with no agreed extension of the plea deadline or continuance of the trial in sight. IF there is no deal by the end of today, then it appears there will be a trial.
This trial, if it occurs, will be a real legal circus ---from the standpoint of all the high profile witnesses who would be called to to testify, and the publicity it would generate. The only thing that will give it some order and control is Judge Biggers, who runs a tight ship during trials.
If Zach does go to trial, he will have turned down a plea deal where he would likely have served no more than a year in prison and lost his law license, as well as some fines (rinky dink relative to Scruggs type money). And if he loses, he risks going to jail for much longer than anyone involved who has previously pled guilty. That is one risky roll of the dice.
Not sure what the angle is here for Mike Moore yet. Usually, he does not get involved in things unless it benefits him in some way. And I am not talking about just money.

You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.
Re: Scruggs pled
Did he change his plea yesterday? I am not seeing it in the news anywhere, if so I am shocked. I was in school with Zach and I know him well. His wife and my wife are buds, and I am really shocked that he would go through with a trial when the deal was so sweet for them.
This is no longer a vacation, this is a quest, a quest for fun---Chevy Chase.

The prosecution now calls Mr. Feed-Call to the stand.
