My guess would be in case the camp flooded and you wouldn't fry all of the electric devices: ie. stove, hot water heater, possibly tv, vcr...etc... I would think it would be similar to a cell phone. I know whenever I got mine wet, I didn't power it up until I got the phone completely dry and it lasted for a long time after that.

Just my guess...

I dont really have a definitive answer for that, just seems like water and electricty wouldnt mix so good. Never know, a tree could float up, pull out the wire, cause a short and burn that mofo up. Just playing things safe i reckon. Same with my propane, gonna disconnect and chain the tank to a tree.

Our lakes will be full now...i actually welcome it.

That stinks doesn't it. ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU HAVE 85% of coahoma county's turkeys over there

Got it. We have never cut the power during high water. I just always figured if the water gets so high that it's in the camp, I have bigger problems than a fried coffeemaker.

Our cabin actually will remain dry however our power could go off since we're expecting 11 days of water. So i'm cleaning out fridge and moving the 4 wheeler and Bad Boy just in case because this forecast keeps changing. The State of Mississippi will not close turkey season behind the levee. We get alot of water at Burkes from the south of us. I saw more hogs this weekend turkey hunting than all of lastyear. The high water is moving animals north to us. The cuts us in two places but honestly we need the water to fill up our mcWilliams lake.. it has been an awesome bass and crappie lack for ever till 2 years ago when it dried up....

Tombstone.....if you didn't bust my ass last year on my Pantherswamp Thread..I'll meet you at QawPaw and boat you over to some of our ridges

Lawdawg.....i hear ya'.....i'm already on it!!!......the really big gator gars..splashing around our culverts get me excited!

I don't remember the thread so it must not have happened
A buddy of mine used to be a member. I have fished over there in Jim samples a few times and turkey hunted over there once. Had a turkey working but somebody messed us up. It really is an unbelievable place. My buddy was telling me the other day he was back there and counted over 60 turkeys in one filed  I ain's seen that many in my whole life I don't think. Surely you are a hunting them with a recurve :D

Tombstone..i am the resident idiot hunting with the recurve. i hunted Jim Sample Sunday morning!!!. Three 150-200# hogs crossed in front of me so i had to honor them and apply a stalk to no avail. Our turkey counts have been really high the last three years. i have hunted across the country and feel very lucky to have a place like this to hunt. I now hear Helena is going to be 51'....Our cabin is still dry ....but.......Our boys are still bunched up really tight...we're not hearing the gobbling yet. Water will be over our river road Monday in 2 places......our season may be stalled for 1o days.... I counted 21 longbeards feb 16th in Elmo field when i was taking down deer stand....of coarse no camera....

I have a good buddy that hunts turkeys with a recurve. His boss is a member on Burkes, but he has not been able to get a trip out of him . I assume yall shoot the hogs all year long?? yall got a pile of them as well.

I keep checking for the updated river forecast and it has not been posted today. I certainly expect a change. The One of the clubs south of you does not even open their season until the 29th. They will close it if the river hits 45. They probalby will not even have a chance to hunt.

Somebody post today's forcast when yall see it!

Are you sure they are Gator Gar or just Longnose? If you are interested in putting a rigged bowfishing boat to use, PM me. I might can help you kill a fish or two! I have a 7 footer on my wall now but sure would like an 8 foot+!

I am assuming bighead carp is the same as big eye? If so they are pretty fun to shoot too but I'll take a 7 ft gator gar  Who is building your boat in Iowa? We have a custom bowfishing boat being built in Texas right now, :D and should have it in two weeks. We also have a fan boat now that is set up. If you want to get on the fish before your boat gets here let me know.
