Burris Speed Bead...

Postby ufgators68 » Fri May 02, 2008 8:13 am

Any of y'all used this sight? Would it work for turkey hunting? I don't really want to have my shotgun drilled/tapped for scope mounts that I'll have to remove to dove hunt with.

Looks like a gimmick designed to make you spend money to me. I'd give it a TWR of about 7.3. :?

i was thinking the same thing. I'd give it a 8.1 TWR. It's one of those things that get's people in bad habits where they are aiming as opposed to pointing a shotgun.

Although I could see it's uses for deer or turkey hunting. Even though I've never missed a turkey with a plane Jane front bead.

It is the same aspect as putting a red dot scope on a shotgun. I saw an old timer with a red dot on his duck hunting, said it really improved his shooting....made him keep his head down.

If it works, it's not topwater. But until proven otherwise, I'm still gonna call it 'Top Water'.

I have a hard time focusing when I line up the beads on the barrel with my target otherwise I'd stick with the normal sights.

That's understandable. I know a few people who's eyesight is bad to the point where they can't shoot open sights on a rifle, or aim a shotgun. I could see this as helpful to people who have difficulty AIMING a shotgun, but I still see it as topwaterish for wing shooting, even if it helps.

Let's remember that Topwater doesn't mean a gimik that doesn't work. It is about people taking short cuts to substitute hard work.

I don't need it for dove hunting, clay shooting or peppering neighborhood mutts... I only need a red dot sight when I'm turkey hunting. I have excellent eye sight, I just can't get focused on the target when I'm lining up the beads.

I don't know what the deal is, I can read the line just above the bottom on the eye charts in the doctor's office. :?
