Also, ask them for extra forumla before you leave the hospital and also at every doctor visit!!! They have samples and will give you extra if you will just ask.

Ditto, also get blankets, diapers, and anything else in the baby cart. Especially the aspirator, cause you can't buy one that will work as well as the one from the hospital.

Get your wife to breast feed, and spend the formula money on a good pump. She can pump and store enough milk to go a long way. The pump will pay for itself quickly. It will also get you out of most of those early morning wakeups in the first few months because Mommy has to feed baby! We have a freezer full of Mommy milk in storage bags that will last a couple of months anyway, plus several bottles in the fridge so the baby has fresh milk to take to the babysitter everyday.

We have a video monitor and it works good. That way you can tell the difference in full-blown crying or just amking noises.

BUT

Test it out before the baby is born. Someone near has a similar product and if we switch the channel on the monitor, we can see the other crib!! i assume that means they can do the same for our baby too. It is a little freaking thinking about it, so I try to ignore it.

Diaper Geanie - we like it, but it is not as good as I thought it would be.

Diapers - Need Lots!!! Be prepared to take unopened packs back to store for larger sizes.

Along the lines of asking for formula before leaving the hospital - ask for "Sweet Ease" or something like it. It is a little shot glass with sugar water or something. But man it can stop a fussy newborn. Doctors desribe it as crack for babies!!!
If it doesn't work out there will never be any doubt that the pleasure was worth all the pain.

Invest in the removable baby seat that has the detachable bases.. Get one for your car and for hers.. Becuase the first six months they are going to sleep alot and those things sure make it easy when you want to go out to eat or have to run into the store. You can leave em in that thing and never have to worry about waking them up..

Also.. Don't be afraid to take them out or to let other people hold them.. This way it they will be used to other people and easier to hand off for baby sitting duties when you and Momma want to go out by yourself...

Oh, and make sure you buy some extra heavy duty locks for the bathroom doors and have them installed before the child starts walking, and some earmuffs too.. That way you can go and get at least 15 minutes of peace and quiet..

As a father of two, all of the advice is good. BUT... Although, the BUMBOO is a cool anytime high chair, once the child starts to roll over or arch their back, they WILL flop right out of it. I just happened to be standing there while my little guy flopped out. Be careful!
