regular lacrosee burly and or grange will NOT!!!!! hold up to a snake bite. my boss got bit earlier this year by a copperhead while he had burlys on. spend 2 days in the hospital and bout 3 weeks on crutches and or in a wheelchair.

I wear snake boots most of the season..I get funny looks when its 25 and a hard frost on the ground..But I know somewhere there is a old lady snake having hot flashes and I dont want to be the one she takes it out on.

I wear waterproof snake boots till Gun season, then switch to regular boots..

Just go and get you some snake chaps to wear over your boots.

I know 2 of you so far know someone that has been biten thru lacross boots, but I wonder if they would help at all? I would feel better about getting bit with them on, rather than just blue jeans. I mean he would have to go thru the boots, jeans, socks, then hit skin. I would think that maybe it would slow him down alittle. Not stop but hopefully not inject as much venom.

OR NOT.

pissed of cottonmouth doesn't care if it is jeans or rubber boots, he's biting as hard as he can every strike to make sure his point gets across, especially since you are so much bigger than he is!

Yeah, I would agree about the pissed off cottonmouth, but I know I feel better with lacross on rather than tennis shoes.

True, if it were a graze or just out of reach strike, yes, I'd rather be in boots. I have a pair of gators I wear through Christmas at our place for the afore mentioned "old lady snake going through hot flashes" - we had one 2nd or 3rd week of a cold duck season a few years ago that was riled up and ready to tangle, hit all 4 tires on that side of the argo and was PISSED!!

Why not jus wear snake boots and not chance it? I got a pair from bass pro, they are waterproof and fairly light, $100 bucks well spent i think . . . i read somewhere where anitvenom is $3K a vial
