Winchester Drylock vs. Winchester Expert

Went to Mack's this weekend to buy a few cases of shells for the season. I have always bought Drylocks but the price per case for the xperts were pretty tempting - $49.99 after mail in rebate. (Drylocks 1 3/8 oz = 85.00 after rebate) Have any of you guys tried them and are they worth anything? I have been told that they use paper wads, aren't sealed as well, and don't use daisy BB's(rounded). I may buy and try some if you guys have had any luck with them. Always looking to save some money!

rogue,i have shot these and have not had a problem with them.
they do have paper wads and not so round shot(cut one open once).
the ones i used performed fine.i just like the dylocks cause they are sealed.xperts are not,now i have had them wet and not had any misfires yet.still have a case and a half left.for the money you will not go wrong.

For $85 a case I'd buy the Dry Locks all day long! I have shot the Xpert and did not have any trouble with it, the shot is definitely not round. Good luck, what ever you decide.

I recently patterned some shells at 35 yards using my Mossberg 835 with the modified and the full factory chokes. The shells I patterned included Kent 3" 3 shot, Kent 3 1/2" 3 shot , Winchester Drylock 3" 3 shot, Winchester Drylock 3 1/2" 2 shot, Winchester Expert 3" 2 shot, and Winchester 3 1/2" 3 shot. The Kent 3 1/2" 3 shot had the best pattern of all , with either the full or modified choke ---the full producing the most pellets in the kill zone. Next best was the 3" 3 shot Drylocks, with either choke. The poorest patterns were produced by the Expert shells. Although the Experts put a good number of pellets in the kill zone, the difference between them and the Kent 3 1/2" 3 shot was dramatic ---enough so that I will be using the Kents this year, rather than mixing it up.

Of course, every gun patterns differently, which is the point of this lengthy response. The best way to dermine if the Experts will work for you is to pattern them in your shotgun and compare to other brands.

With the expert and the kents you will get a different pattern with each and every shell!

Hell Ole Buffelhead go ahead and over bill someone for 1/2 hour and buy you a case of some good shells. Drylock or Supreme!

Try this test... take a "Expert" shell and any of the others, or several and cut them open notice the difference in the shot.... then take all the shells and pour the powder on a metal table where you can light them all with one match.... light it and notice how SSSSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW the expert powder is compaired to the others. You will be surprised!

I have shot both shells. Never had any trouble with the experts shooting, but they don't seem to pattern well or have quite as much "pop" at long ranges. Just my experience!

I have shot the Experts before, but I haven't since then. My pick is the Winchester Supreme shells (black box).

The Drylock seems to be a little more effective in what I have seen.

i refer to them as X-SPURTS.... i haven't bought a box of them in a couple of years and they keep showing up like a worn out dollar bill..... i used mine up on crows....
