I have heard them do it many times. I even remember hearing it and not knowing what it was,,,,just thought they were sneezing or something. It usually happens when bucks get together...it is like an insult to another buck.

If you don't believe it you are selling yourself short. I would not be in the woods after November 1st without one.

I have had the can work a couple of times. Not very good results, since I have tried it 150+ probably

I have heard deer growl on 3 or 4 different occasions. That is why I mention to my wife I would like the call. She did not know which one to get so she got me the primos and the MAD. I have tried it only to have the deer run off. I am not talking about 1.5 yr old deer either. I am talking about 3.5 yr old 120+" deer. If I see a deer that all hope seems to be lost on getting a shot and he is going away, I might try it again, but it would be the last resort, unless I am hunting and hear a deer do it again

As far as the snort wheeze fart, I have never ever heard anything that I thought resembled it in the woods. I have tried it (it is part of my primos call) and never even had anything look up at me. They did not run, but they ahve never acknolwedged it.

I think they all might work in the right situation, but that situation is very few and far between, at least in my experience where the population is not as balanced as it should be. That might be the key
There will be a day....

i've heard bucks wheeze multiple times before and after fighting. had two fighting close last year in some thick stuff. after a few minutes an eight point broke off and started through the woods wheezing the whole time after he had his butt whipped. the ten point was following him pretty closely but both out of bow range. i wheezed and the big ten turned and started walking directly to my tree all bowed and bristled up. when he got to 15 steps i drew back but my arrow came off my nock. needless to say by the time i put it back on there the deer had turned back after the eight point. i think it works but people i know have had much more success w/ it while hunting in the midwest.

you will not have to wonder if you heard a snort weeze as it will be definitive. I will continue to say that it has to be the right situation, but I am sure that they will work. i do not have one, but I have had the can/grunt combo work well before.

I hear ya . . . i couldnt hear my cellphone when other people in the room could so i went got the ears checked. Got some high frequency loss, if its above a certain frequency i dont hear it. Ive got the buck roar with the snort wheeze on top. I dont know about the wheeze, but the roar works. Killed a 151" 9 point last year that i turned back to me with the roar.

You don't get out much, do ya big pop??

Heard a buck actually do it last season. He was the dominate buck in the area and was looking for a fight, so yes it works!

Deer make all of these sounds mentioned yet many of us have not experienced them in the woods due to various reasons or just not understanding what we heard. Here are some deer vocalizations/sounds as related to humans that will help you identify these sounds in the future.

Grunt = Hey!
Buck roar = I'll hit it!
Snort wheeze = I'm fixin' to whip your booty!
Doe bleat = F  CK ME NOW!
Rattling = beer bottles breaking in a bar

I've heard it once in MS and once in Wisconsin. The time in wisconsin was a few years ago on our lease during the rut. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I've got it on video but its pretty hard to hear.

Not sure I follow. I get out plenty. I saw over a hundred different bucks last year alone. Have seen at least 15 different bucks this year. Still never heard it. I said I have a hearing deficiency and that may be the issue. I have heard endless amount of buck grunting in the woods but have had almost 0 success with a grunt call. Dont understand the comment bout me not getting out.
Them ding dongs on the huntin vids use a decoy 2 but you wouldnt catch me doin it. At some point you just have to draw the line. :D

Yeah.. I have heard a snort wheeze. But it wasn't the deer. It is usually me waking my self up in the stand.

i think it truly depends on the buck to doe ratio. that is why it works better in places like the midwest as opposed to MS. which is for the most part overpopulated. just my $.02
