ever heard of using sweet potatoes to lure ducks??
anyone ever heard of using sweet potatoes to lure ducks??
i was told that if you place a few sweet potatoes into a burlap bag, tie it to a cender block and let if sit roughtly 6 inches below the surface, once they start to rot they give off a sweet smell that attracts ducks?????????
any thoughs
one of my wifes co-workers told her this and she asked me about it.

Never heard of it. I would like to see it in action, though. Maybe we can get together for a hunt sometime soon.

heard ol timers talk about putting a burlap sack full in the water and letting the oil ferment out into the water...said it attracts em like crazy but never seen it in action
also used to hear of lacing your favorite duck hole with dishwashing soap or laundry detergent where the soap supposedly breaks down the oil on the feathers for flight and thereby cripples the birds confining them to your spot ...never seen that one either

You mean it's considered baiting even if they can't eat it??? How is using deer scent lures not considered baiting then?? Those dad blasted wood goat hunters get all the breaks, don't they?
