He has a youth 870 in twenty guage. He is so tall we put an additional slipon recoil pad on the stock. I want to get him a full size 20 ga. for Christmas. I was trying to get an idea of what fitted him and what he likes so we went by Garretts in Meridian and looked at some new guns. My son liked the camo guns. The full sized twenties seemed to fit fine. He held up a Nova and liked it. Then he spotted an automatic. He swung it through the air. He handed it to me and said "I love that gun, thats what I want for Christmas." I knew I had screwed up when I looked at the price tag. It was a Browning gold, with camo...$859 dollars!
That has been three days ago and he has mentioned an automatic shotgun for christmas no less than a hundred times since.
Any suggestions on what brand and where I can find him a decent 20 auto loader for less than $800. Maybe I am being too cheap. Are the Charles Daly autos any good. they have a camo 20 for $500. Santa needs your help.
Thanks,
jdphish
Shotgun for a large ten year old boy.
The Winchester SuperX2 is the same gun, only less expensive without the "Browning" tag on it. I am not sure if they make it in a 20 or not. I would look at the 12 guage Beretta that Wal Mart sells for $500 bucks. Let him shoot light loads for a couple of years. The 12 will actually have less felt recoil than the 20 if you are shooting light loads.

Gulfcoast I appreciate your suggestions. Unfortunetely, the Winchester doesn't come in a camo twenty. I checked out the Wally World Beretta. I would like to have one. My son just isn't ready for a twelve. I have four different models and he has no interest in shooting any of them. Wish he was.
So, we are back to either the Browning or Benelli. I am leaning toward the benelli M1 field twenty in camo. Very pricey but I am going to try to sell or trade a perfect browning model 12 in twenty guage to get the benelli. The model 12 is way to nice for me to beat around in the field. Besides, I am thinking that when he is ready for a twelve ga. we can trade up to an Xtrema or something similiar.
Can you tell Santa the Sucker kinda wants the full size M1 twenty also? Thought so.
Thanks,
