Also my local spirts store has a bottle of Rebel Yell 1966 for sale for 1000.00 bucks. I say we all go in and have us a drink!

It is a bourbon based formula blended with apricot-orange........you want a nipple with that

There must be some regional variation in taste as very few of you have mentioned Old Forrester. Over this way in the Alabama Black Belt, it is hands down the most popular Bourbon. I have heard there is more Old Forrester sold per capita in Selma, Alabama than any where in the country. Now for special occassions, I'll give a nod to Woodford Reserve.

Day in and day out I drink 8 year Old Charter. And I buy it buy the 1/2 gallons...never a need to run out or not be able to offer visitors a drink. I guess its a Rankin County "thang" but 8 year Charter is better than the others to me. I guess it's the little get togethers that we learned to drink it at. It's good and chearp...awesome combination. Plus I learned along time ago that when you mix cheap bourbon and soft drink versus expensive bourbon and soft drink, it still taste like bourbon and a soft drink...so why spend the money on top shelf bourbon when your gonna mix

That being said:

When I like a bourbon and a splash of water or bourbon on the rocks here are my favorites

The smoothest bourbon that I have ever drank has to be hands down Basil Hayden's

I have the DU Bourbon. It was ten yrs old when I got it and that was 11 yrs ago... Does it spoil? I have never tasted it... So no choice here..... :oops:

Old Forrester for me. But, I keep a bottle of 10 year old charter at all times.

It will not spoil but it is not really 21 years old either.......it quits ageing when it comes out the barrell....

It is a federal law that to be called bourbon it must.

On 4 May 1964, the U.S. Congress recognized Bourbon Whiskey as a “distinctive product of the United States," creating the Federal Standards of Identity for Bourbon. Federal regulations now stipulate that Bourbon must meet these requirements:

Bourbon must be made of a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn.[1]
Bourbon must be distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof (80% alcohol by volume).
Bourbon must be 100% natural (nothing other than water added to the mixture).
Bourbon must be aged in new, charred oak barrels.[1]
Bourbon may not be introduced to the barrel at higher than 125 proof (62.5% alcohol by volume).
Bourbon which meets the above requirements and has been aged for a minimum of two years, may (but is not required to) be called Straight Bourbon.[2]
Bourbon aged for a period less than four years must be labelled with the duration of its aging.
In practice, almost all bourbons marketed today are made from more than two-thirds corn, have been aged at least four years, and do qualify as "straight bourbon"—with or without the "straight bourbon" label. The exceptions are inexpensive commodity brands of bourbon aged only three years and pre-mixed cocktails made with bourbon aged the minimum two years.
