Over and unders 3 1/2
Over and unders 3 1/2
I was just wondering if anyone on here hunted ducks with an over and under and has one that shoots 3 1/2...I have a Browning Citori I dove hunt with now and I love it. I would like to find somthing along that line to duck hunt with...Any suggestiones?
Re: Over and unders 3 1/2
Yes, shoot 2 3/4" or 3" out of your Citori. They will do the job on ducks just fine. I have shot 3 1/2s out of an over-and-under and do not recommend the experience. If you have to shoot 3 1/2s, get an automatic.
Re: Over and unders 3 1/2
No I dont have to shoot 3 1/2, but I really didnt want to take the citori to the duck woods, cause its pretty hard on a gun. I was really looking for an over and under that was kinda made for duck hunting or at least maybe synthetic. Those wood grain guns catch a beating in the water...

Just take care of your gun. I have shot a Citori at ducks for many years. I agree that duck hunting is hard on a gun, but if you like it that much, shoot it. After all, a used Citori isn't worth any more than the Benelli and Beretta automatics.

31/2's in an over and under will turn you knuckle blue off the trigger guard. Have been there and done that.

I take my Beretta black onyx where ever the ducks are. But, I don't shoot 3 1/2! They will flat stomp a mudhole in you! I don't think they make the 686 black onyx anymore, but is is the best shooting (shoots where I want it to more often than any other I've owned) duck gun I've ever had. this year, i'm going to go sidexside, though. Bought me a cz 12 ga twice-barrel. So far so good on clays. We'll see what it does on woodducks this Sat. morning......Oh, I'm so sorry y'all can't start untill next week! Trust me, you will make it up quick in quality, though!

Last year all I used was my s x s 12 ga. The only thing mine has two triggers and withthe high brass duck loads it would beat the crap out og the back finger. But I liked it. Will probably use it off and on this year.

You must have some fillings that need to be knocked loose. I've got my eye on a winchester 101 Select camo in mossy oak duck blind.
Boys, "I DONT KILL THESE DUCKS BECAUSE I LIKE TOO, I KILL THESE DUCK BECAUSE I HAVE TOO", you figure out the difference!
Re: Over and unders 3 1/2
I have a Browning Cynergy that is Camoed and shoots 3.5 shells out of it. It is my primary duck gun.. Browning made a Citori like this also a few years back, but they don't make it anymore.. You can probably find the cynergy on gunbroker.com. My wife got mine from Mean Mallard 2 years ago as a Christmas gift. The Cynergy has a much better recoil pad on it than the Citori so 3.5 are tollerable..

I shot a few 3.5" shells out of a 686 Onyx one time. It was brutal. Do it a lot and I bet even a Navy SEAL would develop a flinch. You can also split a knuckle real easy with a 3.5" OU.
So many ducks, so little time....

my Navy SEAL son grew up with a 686 and still shoots it. But the 3 1/2 will make you take notice. He will still be hunting in Iraq this fall I sure will miss him opening morning.

Re: Over and unders 3 1/2
Ruger makes a real nice synthetic Over and under. I don't own one, but I have shot one. Shoots like a Dream for about $1350.

Ouch. No 3.5" for me. As far as what gun where...I buy guns for kiling, not admiring.

Re: Over and unders 3 1/2
I shoot the camoed citori cwinkler mentioned. The gun is heavy enough that 3 1/2s aren't bad at all. I did put a kick eze pad on it which seemed to help a little. I chose it over the cynergy for personal fitment (most important aspect) and the fact that sling swivels were already attached. Wasn't sure i could put them on a cynergy and they're a must in the swamps I wade and hunt, with a dog and all the other gear i carry. I think you can still find em on gunbroker and i know I've seen the satin hunter models on there lately. I got tired of the autos always fouling up and figured I'd go for a known two shots than maybe 1 or 3 depending on how the gun felt. Killed plenty of ducks with it last year and even used it to take a turkey!
I must admit that while I didn't notice anything on the live bird, patterning my turkey chokes was an experience i don't need to relive anytime soon. It was absolutely no fun.
