Snow Geese

Postby Bankermane » Tue Nov 25, 2008 9:50 am

We've always been covered up with snow geese in the northern delta. Strange thing though. I'm seeing and hearing a good amount flying over the Jackson city limits in the morning then again at night. Anybody else noticed this? I've never seen a snow goose in these parts that I remember.

Yeah, I heard group after group all through the night last night in Ridgeland. I never went out to get a look at them, but from the sound of it, they were in big groups.

Saw about 50,000 on the ground near Isola on Saturday. Tens of thousands just south of Morgan City this morning. Been a big flock of 20,000 or so near Moorhead for several weeks.

I saw a group fly over the Wal-Mart parking lot in downtown Jasper Alabama last night. I heard them and they past over low enough to the lights to see them. I've lived here all my life, 38 years, and this is the first year I've seen snows here. I had 4 groups fly over my property while I was deer hunting a couple weeks ago. It seems strange but I'm liking it.

Bank, funny you should mention this. I was thinking the same thing. I've been in the woods working all week and I've heard snows all day long. I cant remember ever hearing this many over here on the east side. Occasionally we'll get a group thats lost and will fly over but its pretty rare. Maybe they're expanding their range due to over population.....glad they dont eat pine trees.

I saw some big groups of them as I was leaving for work at 10 PM a few weeks ago, in Hoover, Al. The next morning they were seem in Chelsea, AL. I have never seen them here before as well.
