Stoeger problems

Postby Double Kill » Fri Dec 05, 2008 9:22 am

Hey guys i bought a stoeger model 2000 shotgun about 2 months ago and now i am having some problems... Sometimes the gun won't shoot but when i open the chamber, their is a good shell in but a shell is also shot out of the magazine. It is like their should be just a hull in the chamber, but their is a good shell in already and as soon as i take the good shell out and reload it, it will shoot again. This happened to me last weekend at muscadine and twice already wood duck hunting around the house. It is almost like the gun is cycling the shells faster than it can shoot them. Any input on what i should do or has anyone else heard of this happening?

Not sure if I'm following exactly what you're describing, and don't know if this has anything to do with it or not - don't own a stoeger - but sometimes if you manually release the bolt to chamber a shell (or try to manually chamber), inertia semi-autos won't fire, they'll just "click". You need to let the shell chamber through the gun's cycling.

May not have anything to do with what's going on with your gun.

I understand what your saying but with my gun, its only doing this when it does cycle by itself. This never happens on the first shot, only on the second or third. Its like the firing pin doesn't have time to peepee or something but i have no idea ha

i have had one for 4 years now, never mis fired....but does the bolt fully shut when it cycles? check there first.....there is a screw in the stock that may need tightened if it is not completely cycling.....let me know.

I had a similar problem, but what it turned out being was "bad head spacing" on the barrell. About 1 out of 10 times I would pull the trigger and "click" nothing happened. Shell would have a light primer strike though. I had to send it back and they replaced the barrell. So far so good now, we will see.
