14 point's in less than 10 hours!

Postby Delta Duck » Sun Nov 16, 2003 9:59 pm

My 13 year old cousin shot a 6 point last year opening day of youth weekend by 7:15. This year the buck got in behind her and could not get a shot. So this morning we went and she got her nice 8 point buy 8:30.

She did good! :)

Congrads to you both DD. What an awesome feeling. My 8 yr old son and I went both this morning and this afternoon. We saw several deer both trips out, but he was not able to get a shot off  , but he was so excited. He kept asking me over and over and over if he could keep going during the year with me or if "youth weekend" was the only time he could go and shoot a deer.

I've already decided that he is gonna get the first deer of the year between us, it will also be his first ever. Times like this are to be cherished for sure. :D :D :D
Don't be stupid, you idiot.

Congrads to all who took a youth hunting this weekend. Whether a deer was taken or not you were successful. The youth are the future of our sport. I'm seeing less and less kids in the woods.

I took the afternoon off and took my eight year old. She was fortunate enough to take her first deer, a nice eight point. It was the sixth deer that we saw, but the only one that was close enough. It is so much fun to set there with her. I guarantee I answered 964 questions about the wildlife she saw and heard.

Spend as much time as you can with your children.

carried my seven year old grandson for his first youth hunt.... we entered the field to find 5 does in the food plot..... he had already told me that he wanted a buck...... those does exited fast.... we sat in the shoot house for only a short time when a doe and twin fawns entered the field and we watched them for 30 min. or so. a nice 5 pt. young buck walked in and i told him to take his time and squeeze off a good shot...... he looked up at me and replied " Pop, i think i will let him go and wait on a BIG buck".. that is one more 7 year old ADULT...... off course i am proud of him...... we came home meatless but he had stories to carry to show and tell at school today......

Great stories, fellas. Took my six year old. We saw some does but nothing close enough to shoot. We had a great time anyways.

I really enjoyed these posts. Those are some lucky kids to have that kind of guidance and opportunity at such a young age.
I helped introduce Duck hunting to a young man this season, but this one is in his 30's. First time ducks came in we told him to shoot.......he sprang up and cracked his head on the top of the blind, fell back and looked around as we tried like heck to not laugh. Next came a single diver of some sort.....jumped up at our direction, fired one shot, fumbled with his gun and looked around and admitted that he forgot to pump his gun between shots. This young man was as excited as you can get. I enjoyed being part of his introduction to the finest sport on earth. Good luck! INJ
