Trailer Tag

Postby rustypjr » Tue Dec 16, 2008 9:06 am

The other post got me to thinking. (I know kinda scary) Do you have to have a tag for evvery trailer (four wheeler trailer, boat trailer, 16 foot trailer, 32' dovetail) We have no tag on none of these. Well the boat trailer has one that my wifes granpa put on. It expired in 80 something.

I have a 16' tandom, a 12' double 4 wheeler, and a 5'x8' 4 wheeler trailer and 2 boat trailers. None have tags and never will.
I will accept the ticket and pay it. Really has to be some young @ss punk or just some mean f'er just looking for a reason
to write you a ticket to get a trailer tag ticket. Cheaper to just pay a ticket once in a blue moon than to tag all them trailers.
Especially in the county I live in where tags are sky high anyway.

i don't think you have to have one in MS do you? I know you need one in La, have friends that have gotten ticketed for it, all mine have them, well at least i swap one plate between two trailers

No trailer I have ever owned has a tag and working lights...except the boat, because if I give them another reason to stop me coming too and from the lake I just might get more than a tag ticket.

But the fourwheeler trailer is going on about 15-16 years old and has never had a tag or working lights after about a month of ownership...guess were in the money now and a ticket outwieghs the cost :D

You have to have a tag on EACH trailer and any law enforcement officer can write you a ticket for it.
Most county and city governments are in a tight now due to the economic conditions and have been instructed to write tickets!
Trailer tags are one that they are emphasizing.
Most trailer tags are less than $30 so it's a smart investment.
I would rather have the tag than get stopped and make me late for a hunt and have to pay a $100 ticket!

I think the key words that you can tell the title clerk is that it was just used on your farm behind your four wheeler and now you want to be able to pull it on the road...

I got a tic for no lights on a boat trailer. He let me go on the no tag as I was moving the boat for some one. Cohoma Co. wants $162 for the improper equipment ticket. Hate to see what the no tag would have been on top of that!

I have never tagged a trailer either. Went to the courthouse to get the title transferred to my name on a boat trailer. Found out that the year before I bought it, the previous owner did not tag it, as well as the year that I owned it it was not tagged. Had to pay for the 2 yrs. that the trailer was not tagged, plus a fine, plus buy a tag for this year. All just to transfer the title in my name so I can sell it. Needless to say, I will tag every trailer I own from now on, I suggest you do the same.

Local coffers are running low, so the are writing tickets for everything under the sun. Police preach that they write tickets to save lives, bullchit, it is for revenue generation only.

I have never had a tag for a 4 wheeler trailer in my life.
Everything is illegal now, except for the stuff that's mandatory.
