that is down right awful. Retinal detatchments can happen in any animal, and are more common in certain eye conditions. You may want to have your dog seen by a vetrinarian ophthalmologist. Retinal detatchments can be fixed by laser if caught soon enough. So the eye that the doctor said had been that way for a while could be unfixable, but the other eye if recent enough may be fixed. Now I am sure it would be a costly surgery as it runs around 8K for humans, but it is something you may be at least interested in exploring. Not sure if you have such a specialist in your area, but I know MSU has one at their vet school. I am sorry to hear about that with your dog, he seems like a very fine looking dog. I hope for the best for your dog.
