Duck Hunting Books
This is my first year to duck hunt and I am absolutely hooked. Once the season goes out I want to start reading some books that detail the culture and history of duck hunting. The bits and pieces of the culture and history that I've picked up on so far are very intriguing and makes me want to learn more. I was reading in either a recent Duck Unlimited or Delta Waterfowl magazine where they mentioned some prominent waterfowl authors and books and now I can't find where I read it. Do any of y'all have any good duck hunting books/authors that y'all like to read that you would recommend?

Stories of the old duck hunters by Gordon MacQuarrie
Surely the longer a man duck hunts the wealthier he becomes in experience,in reminiscence,in love of nature,if he goes out with the harvest of a quiet eye, free from the plague of himself

I found this one on another website and it looks really good. It is actually a trilogy, Stories of the Old Duck Hunters, More Stories of the Old Duck Hunters and Last Stories of the Old Duck Hunters. I'm definitely going to read these three. Thanks, guys, for all the recommendations...keep 'em coming.
Re: Duck Hunting Books
"The Golden Age of Waterfowling" by Dr. Wayne Capooth is a great book you should read. "The Duck Hunters Almanac" is another newer book that is entertaining. Nash Buckingham wrote some great books that you may want to read, as well.

One of my favorite duck hunting books is "Arkansas Duck Hunter's Almanac". There is a lot of history, stories, pictures from the Golden Age Of Waterfowling to date. Not to mention the wealth of info in this book about hunting Arkansas' vast public grounds. It's a must have, IMO.

AbuBen has a beaver book? I must have it!
Here are my recommendations:
Gunning the Chesapeake - Walsh
The Outlaw Gunner - Walsh
The Grand Passage
Waterfowling in the Mississippi Flyway - Connet
anything by Gene Hill, Dave Hagerbaumer, Havila Babcock, Buckingham (hard to read because he writes like a brotha speaks), MacQuarrie
Re: Duck Hunting Books
I'll second the Gordon MacQuarrie trilogy.
For a more modern-day author, Doug Larsen is hard to beat.

I got a real good one for Christmas, titled First Shooting Light. This book profiles a number of clubs in Mississippi and Arkansas. Very interesting reading.
