Blong, YOu not telling me anything. I have been involved with the problem from the start. I am all to familiar with the laws. You are not legal to hunt on the LA Side Of chotard. Period...It is private land. It doesn't matter about what season is open or not. Period

oh, and by the way, that is your quote, not buckwabit's
and he is right, it does not matter about license anymore, you are illegal if you are in Louisiana now.

Was at Chotard Tuesday and talking to Jerry about the tickets the fellas got. He has hired a Louisiana Lawyer and is taking it to court. He said he would go all the way to the Supreme Court if thats what it took, but he was going to get to the bottom of it. So it sounds like we will find out exactly what is going on out there for once. Should be interesting.

Wonder what Jerry's lawyer is going to take up to the supreme court? Specially, since they recently refused to hear anything on this subject.

The law used to be you could hunt LA waters if you traveled MS water to get there. You could hunt with a MS license and a LA state stamp. I know this because I have been checked by Fed's twice. This was years ago and haven't hunted it since 05' so I'm not sure what the laws are and really don't care. I will tell you that I talked to Warren County warden Sat. about the MS river backwater and he said that they will give you 100 yds outside the channel and that is IT. He was very firm with that and said anything over 100 yds is trepassing. Just FYI

It sure is. Up the ordinary Low water point at least. I guess we could pioneer layout boat hunting for divers out in the middle of the channel without fear of getting arrested??

blong wrote:I was trying to explain to buckwabit the same thing yall are saying. Somehow it did not quote his "sorry my friend you are mistaken." I know all to well what you can and can't do on shared waters. They had to GPS our coordinates to make sure we were in La.. Also had some buddies come thru the chute this summer and La. sheriff office carried them up river to the office for a breathalizer. When both captains passed , the officers would not even bring them back down the river. Friends have to drive around and get them. Long story short, BE LEGAL ON CHOTARD.

I ain't got a dog in this hunt but that is wrong if they passed the breath test. Since they were legal that is akin to kidnapping.

Killed a good bit there in past. Good public land near by if you know where to setup. Central AL is covered heavy right now. I guess from the cold temps?
