cheap loads for the goose hunt
cheap loads for the goose hunt
I saw that several people had Fiocchi shells last year. What do yall think about them?
I am looking for some cheap shells that are reliable.
I will never shoot a Kent again. I had about 10 swell in the barrel after firing.

They are good shells I've gone through a couple of cases and I have no problems. Rogers has the 3in feds on sale with no shipping.
Re: cheap loads for the goose hunt
I had a similar problem with Federal shell 7 or 8 yes ago. My gameplan for this year is to bring a few boxes of T or BBB. I'll load my gun with them when the stalk starts. I'll fill my pockets with the cheapest 2 3/4 #2-4 I can find. No more packing heavy 3.5 shells to shoot cripples with.
No, i don't want to know you ---- teul

NO FIOCHI!! Had one break and the hull flew down my barrel and we called it a morning!! Had mallards ALL OVER US!!
I had it mixed with some kent and we already had 7 ducks in about 15 min then that happen!!

Re: cheap loads for the goose hunt
I think Fiocchi shells shoot great. I have shot a case of #2's this year and have been very impressed.
I don't like Federal shells. In my opinion they offer no benefit over any other brand out there and they are the dirtiest shell on the market. I can shoot 3 boxes of Fiocchi they leave very little powder or residue in my chamber. I shot 1.5 boxes of federals a couple of weeks ago and when I cleaned my shotgun, I was amazed at the amount of powder and residue in it. Took me a good while to get the gun clean.
Of course, I have been accused of being anal about cleaning my guns by my hunting buddies.
If that doesn't hang you up then I would shoot the cheapest shells you can find.

Re: cheap loads for the goose hunt
I have never had any problems at all with Fiocchis, either steel or target loads. If I were going to hunt late season pheasants, the Fiocchi "Golden Pheasant" load would be my first selection.

I have been using them for 3-4 yrs and never had a problem with them. IMO you can't go wrong with them.

I shoot Fiocchi's and Kent all the time. I have never had a problem with either of them.

They didn't swell you need to polish the chamber on that 870. Do a search it's a common problem with the gun.

You can do it yourself, but Briley or Seminole or Ballistic Specialties will all do it for about $65 plus shipping. Dave Swann could do it for you as well.
