We tried to go the cheap route on boots and got some of the wally world specials. they will rub blisters on his feet if he is like mine and wears them 24/7. So last year we bought him some boggs they never leaked but the fabric started coming off after about a 3 months. This year i found the lacrosse alphas in his size. Either way unless you get them way to big most are gonna out grow them in a year. As far as waders i am gonna wait a few years on them. Right now i just take an old hang off and put it on a tree.

Where did you find the alphas? As for outgroing them, I have a 2 yr old boy to follow him and another due in June so they will be well used.

My two cents' worth after dealing with kids' hunting issues for years and years: buy your children the best boots and clothes that you can afford. It seems like lots of expense for the short time that they fit, but the warmth and comfort translates directly into more enjoyable hunting experiences for them - and that will make them want to keep coming with you.

Same experience with the bogs and my 5 year old. Though the fabric came aloose quick, they have held up well and made it to hand-me-down land and his little brother. Along with a good pair of wool socks, they do a great job of keeping feet warm/dry. I suspect the kids muck boots, if yours is big enough to wear them, would do about the same.

Kids hate wearing boots because they are heavy and uncomfortable that is untill I broke down and bought my youngest some muck boots. He weares them everywhere, Definatly worth the extra cash.

When I think back to being a kid and hunting with my father, I remember some great hunts and have some fantastic memories. That being said, I have nightmares about how durn cold my toes and feet got wearing cheap hunting boots. They were all my father could afford and I am grateful for having them but I buy my kids the muck boots. Those muck boots and some good socks make all the difference in the world.

Go ahead and spend the extra money and get some good boots for the younguns

A little kid (probably 5 or 6 y.o.) came into my office today wearing some sharp looking muck boots. I'll have to get my boys a pair when they get big enough to wear the smallest size.

I think I have decided on the muck boots. I think they will be the most comfortable. Plus, with two brothers behind him I think I will get my moneys worth. :D

Loud??? I have a pair sitting by the door right now and I haven't heard a peep out of them all week.

Seriously...I used to farm rice and have worn(out) just about every knee boot under the sun.

Get the Mucks. They are much too hot for summer, but they are the best boot I have ever had for hunting/cold weather.
