jury duty
Re: jury duty
Last one I've been to, EVERYBODY in the courtroom, but the jury knew the guy was guilty. Both lawyers included. We had to sit through the whole thing though and listen to the cases, go sit in a room and prepare our verdict, the whole 9 yard.
was a total waste of time. Days like that you wish you were at a federal court so you can get some kind of payment.
Side note, there are alot of people that use the I'm racist or I support the death penalty type comments and don't get picked to be on the jury.

Re: jury duty
Well I figured it would be easier to trow mine down instead of bringing the rest up!!!
Re: jury duty
I served on Grand Jury in the past. On the grand jury you just decide whether to indict or not. You get to here alot of Funny and stupid stuff also some things that make you want to wup some booty. I got Petite Jury on Tues. 3rd. May not be as interesting.
Re: jury duty
Got called 2 weeks ago, good to have friends that can get you out of it.

Same here. Where are you having to report?
Lafayette Chancery Court - Petit Jury.
Seems I get pulled at least once a year now. Lived here 6-7 years before I ever got a notice. I dutifully turned in the form and showed up. Now they know I'll show. I have a coworker lives in Cleveland. He gets called once a year as well.
Most of the time I get the letter I call day before and court is cancelled. Couple of times I did have to show were civil cases and I never made it past voire dire. One I had previously negotiated insurance claims with one of the attorneys involved. That got me set free. Other time I rasied my hand and politely informed judge and atty's that as an Insurance Adjuster I probably had a completely different idea of what adequate compensation was. After the break for negotiations I was told I could leave.

I am 36 and have been called nine times, maybe 10. I have almost taken my name off of voter registration. I don't mind doing it every so often, but it is obvious they call the people that show up, so they will have enough to proceed and not prolong things. I have sat in there when over 50% of those with summons did not show up. Court in the delta is a freaking joke. I do believe it is a responsibility, and I tell myself that if I was ever on trial, I hope there would be some responsible people on the jury, but dang can't a brotha get a break.

I get called every year it seems like and never get picked for duty. I under the belief if you have a college education you are less likely to be picked.
