Taxes???

Postby LODI QUACKER » Tue Mar 24, 2009 1:19 pm

For the guys that pay what is a reasonable amount?

What kind of raquet do these HR block Jackson hewitt guys have going.

I have used turbo tax in the past but with additional stuff this year I just wanted to make sure I was right.
When the dude got through he told me it was going to be 570 bucks. Hell this aint a CPA or an itemized deduction even. I told him I considered that a robbery and he said " I will talk to the boss and see what I can do.
Well he cals me back with a 300 and something amount and I told him the same freakin thing. Quite honestly I wanted to Break his freakin nose for wasting my time!!!

Am I wrong? What does tax prep cost.

My Bro ownes his own Bus, itemizes, sits down with an accountant to pour over all the BS and reciepts of the year and his is less than 300 bucks. Is that the norm or what. Somebody educate me.

buddy of mine is a CPA and he said around 300 is about the going rate. He said you can find them for a little less sometimes a little more, 575 is wqay high and they(HR block) probably don't do as good of a job as a private CPA firm either.

Most of the time, you get what you pay for ...
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

I have two LLC's that have monthly income coming through them and my own personal taxes and last year my taxes were 1100-1200 for all three done and as said before....they meet with the people if I get audited.

Mine who specializes in my buisness, does payroll, personal taxes and everything in between runs a whole lot more than that.

For my taxes I am not ever going to take it to HR block UNLESS they are a CPA. I use a private guy, support the small guy. Odds are the guy that did your taxes won't be there in a year, or even come May. What do you do then? $300 seems pretty cheap to me though even if he isn't a CPA.

I have a construction/home repair business. My tax prep runs about $300 per yr. and my CPA deals with the IRS in the event of an audit....

H&R Block and those type places try to charge you a % of your return. They hope you are ok with it as it is just a cut of your return, free money so to speak. Ask around and find someone you can trust through a friend, then stick with em.
