Biggest Delta Camp

Postby Deltamud77 » Thu Mar 26, 2009 10:18 am

Here is a stupid, topwater type question, but out of curiousity, what is the biggest hunting camp in the delta from an acreage standpoint? I assume Catfish, Merigold, maybe Miller Point are in the mix. You also have, I believe it is called, Delta Wildlife in the south delta.

Which is it and how big is the camp?

As far as one club with contigious acreage, my guess would be Merigold. They hunt around 14K acres. None of the other clubs in Bolivar County are anywhere near that size with the exception of Donaldson Point, but its a little smaller than Merigold.

50 members right now. Thinking about selling 10 more to make 60 total. If you are interested you can have a packet mailed to you. Click on the link and go to membership and fill out that little info deal and they'll mail the information.

I agree with TODO, those Clarksdale clubs are 7000-8000 acres if I remember correctly. 27 Break, Black Bayou, Refuge, and all of those are smaller than Catfish and Catfish is right around 10,000 acres. The important thing though is the number of members/acreage. You could have a place like Concordia with 7000-8000 acres and only 10 members.....look at that number of acres per member.....or Catfish that has close to 10,000 acres with 76 members. I think the Conservation league has hundreds of members with around 10,000 acres.

Deltaquack - why are the descriptions under deer, wild hog, turkeys, etc. in some weird language like latin?

I thought all this time it was a dead language, but ya'll are bringing it back.

The site is being developed right now. They were having trouble with everything using the regular website so they started developing a new one with /newsite at the end of it. They are changing parts of it everyday b/c I've had emails asking for pictures and such. The whole website was in Latin and it all said the same thing. As a new part is finished they copy and paste over the Latin and add the pictures. I asked the same thing when I first saw it.

What about Huntington Point? In its day it was a huge club, bigger than Catfish.

Im a member. It was split in the 1980's with the formation of black bayou. Back in the 60's it was one of the larger clubs around.
