Ant, If you know of a new SBE for sale for under $500. I will buy it and give you $400  As far as Brownings go, they haven't made a good shotgun since they stop making the old A-5, but that is just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions

I have a Browning Gold in shadowgrass that has won a couple class state titles in sporting clays, a zone class title and has over 40K rounds through it with no problemos and killed at least 400 ducks. Stone cold hunk of junk that one is........I know at least 5 guys down here that have replaced SBE's with Brownings for reliability issues. Makes you go hmmmmm.....
So many ducks, so little time....

Right on GC, i've got the same exact gun and this is my third season with it and I wouldn't trade it for any other auto on the market! The only problem I had with it was it wouldn't eject those $2 a box shells during dove season, but when you hunt with the best gun on the market I guess you need to feed it some good shells also!

In our club, we have 4 Berettas, 3 browning golds, 4 870's, 1 mossburg. Most likely, fairly typical. I agree with the browning guys though, those golds are pretty impressive. I've noticed that the guys that shoot Kolar on the Sporting range shoot Brownings in the blind. Just an observation.... :D

Remington 870, most reliable gun i've ever had, it's had 3 seasons of ducks, deer, rabbits, squirrels, and dove shot through it. Yet to have a misfire. i know 3 years old isn't old, but i hunt ALOT. plus i try to shoot sporting clays sometimes. One interesting thing, last year the last weekend of the season, it was somewhere around 17 or so where we were hunting, the browning gold and SBE in our blind froze ( the first i've heard of either of them doing so, not bashing them at all ) which still makes me believe in the old pump gun.

I have 870 that is 13 yrs old, been hunting the salt water with it since I got it, two stocks and about 5 coats of rust oleum later shes still kickin, been dropped in the frozen sloughs of Mound LA and used as a paddle/ push pole in the marshes down here, so clogged with mud the action wouldnt even work , just submerged ran the pump till the mud gets washed away and keep on keepin on, how many ,bennelis ,brownings, berrettas could due that. Killed 100,s of ducks and other game including turkeys, deer, and hogs, The only time i evr recall puting that thing in a case was going on the refuge at Noxubbe. She usually rides in the back of the truck with the rest of the sheet. 870 is the most versatile, weapon I have ever owned, and for the price of $178 with all the chokes I cant beat this 13 yr old gun, that has never misfired nor jammed, through the worst punishment a man could put on his equipment.
