Lot of race threads lately

I would NOT reccomend anyone move thier family into a ghetto ,barrio, or any other 3rd world nation nieghborhood inside of a Southern city. That is unless they are sure that God has called them to that ministry,and,they are sure that He is calling them and not thier guilt-fueled by a liberal meida-for being white.I attended the poorest school district in the state of Texas,which is still ran by minorities. The state is constantly threatening to take the district over. Whether it is for poor grades,constant money grafting,or contactor-cousins getting bids over other folks,they are constanty in the news ( North Forest ISD,Houston,Texas) . My father in Law,who has been a full-time pastor all of his adult life,was called by God to this nieghborhood to minister,thankfully for me,as that is where I met my wife of 32 years.
However, I felt like God wanted my children nurtured in a different atmosphere,and I got the heck out of there ASAP. I was 20 and broke and moved my wife and baby girl to rural SouthEast Texas. I will never,ever put my family in that situation. It would have to a "Burning Bush" experience for me to move my family into an area that has "the highest rate of returning felons " in Texas (recent story on Houston FOX 26 news) . I can tell you when minorities run,or rule, a buisness,school district,etc. they are quick and without hesitation to try to "right the wrong" of percieved past injustice.
At my father in laws church,they would often come to service just to see if someone would be rude to them. They were not,he made a balck man ,and a hispanic man,both deacons in his church before he moved on. But the bulk of people that came ther were to see if they would be welcomed in whiteys church. Theft and arson were not investigated as "hate crimes",when whiteys church was on the recieving end.
As far as the term "racist",we,even those of us who might be considered devoted Christians have had our vocabulary changed by the leftist media.
I will close by reminding you that an estimated 90% of Black Evangelical Christians are believed to have voted the race card for a president who is from a cult like rascist church ( Jerimiah Wright's church),heavy Muslim up-bringing ,communist ideas concerning redistribution of wealth,and believes and supports the murder of unborn children. Yes, I'm really feeling the guilt right now. Sure I am.

That's what I don't get. All these black-Christians that voted for Obama even though he is overly pro-abortion is unbelievable. As a Chrisitian your faith and belief comes before everything, even voting a guy that is the same color as you into office. A true Christian would not condone the aggressive support of the killing of a God created human as Obama does. It is obvious to these people that their faith falls way behind their urge to get a black man into power.

The reason the Republican party is in the chitter nationally is partly because they didn't reach out to the moderates enough. Like it or not, you can't have it all ultra conserative or nothing or you will end up with nothing.....such as President Obama.

I don't know about that....McCain is definetly not considered the bastion of conservatism, he's pretty damn moderate. I see what your saying though, but I wouldn't want to start compromising core conservative values to get a few votes. I heard something about Michael Steele wanting to attract more of the "hip-hop" crowd to the Republican Party to appeal to that demographic. Has anyone else heard this? They can have that vote, I hope that's not true.

CWINK...I think its great that your church and many others participate in programs to better poorer, mostly black areas of town. My youth group used to do a several week long ministry for kids every summer over by Tanglewood apartments, well before they tore them down. Sure we had to have a squad car and officer parked out front the whole time but whatever, just tax dollars. Deep down I know its a good thing to try and help where you can but I always left feeling like their parents dropped them off to get them out of the house and the only part the kids connected with was snack time. We also spent countless hours fixing up houses, raking yards and cleaning up trash in the blocks surrounding that but nothing ever got better. Tell you when it got better tho, when Tanglewood apts got leveled and guys at the house that the cops always told us to stay away from got in a shootout with the cops and the criminals lost.

See it didn't matter how many pieces of trash we picked up or cups or jungle juice we passed out, the only thing that area responded to was a show of force and a willingness to follow thru with it.
The guys on here that train dogs know best...you don't reward an animal for bad behavior or pussyfoot around with discipline, you punish and make them start over until they get it right.

You have to watch how you word things on this thread. We might get the wrong impression!

Did you not click on that first link? I put it first because I knew that you would bring up the singleness thing. That is a family who chose to move to downtown Jackson for the purpose of racial reconciliation, helping the poor, and advancing the kingdom.

There are many families that live right along side the three single girls in Cracktown. I just don't know those families, and thus don't have pictures of them.

There were also many families that lived and worked in Turkey with me. One family was from the quaint little city of Forest, MS, and took their four boys with them. Honestly, I was one of only two single guy missionaries in the whole city in the two years I was there. And also, there were three fathers killed not too far from what I lived. Don't misunderstand me duckhunterdoc, I am not going to pass judgment on any decision you have made. I don't know you and don't pretend to. And I am not presumptuous enough to believe that I can tell you what God's plan for your life is. But I do hope that through this thread, maybe someone out there will be spurred on to do a good deed, to try and bridge that massive chasm that exists between the races, and will offer hope to someone out there who is hopeless. And maybe, just maybe, God will show this city grace and mercy and bless it with peace and prosperity.

And, as a funny little side note, I did live in South Jackson for the last year.

...........I think we agree on a lot...i agree with most of what you have said....but as many of the members on here have stated their view.. that a move to a dangerous area can spell trouble...now if this is God ordained--so be it...loss of life is nothing to compare to God's reward...but a foolish venture to prove a point is well ,Foolish. My desire to even engage in this conversation is to point out Reality. That racism is alive and doing too well, and afirmative action is a bad idea as it has led to reverse Discrimination. Not every heated comment about race means that that person is a hater, and not every idea to fix racism(like you have suggested and the link proves some families are doing) is God ordained for every one else.Especially , Obama's ideas to fix the USA and Racism is an example of a poor idea(socialism) IMO...I belive you have a pure heart,and a desire to see Jesus in action,But as you see the other comments on here(from the other guys) about your post.,the reality For Most of the guys on here to really Take ahold of your suggestion you will probably have to have a picture of you and the wife and kids (and you may be married with kids- i don't know) in South Jackson for more than one year
