Postby Stocking Foot 1 » Thu Jan 22, 2004 10:05 pm

6 years goin strong can't beat a good pair of cold stocking-foots ($40 red balls). Although only needin some warm waders 2-days out of the year, and a bathing suit the rest. I was wondering on some suggestions.

I've had a pair of brush-tuffs for 6 yrs. Had a small leak in one of the seams at the beginning of this year in the left knee. Used some ShooGoo and now I'm sittin' high and dry!

I have apair of Lacrose brush tuffs and a pair of herters. The herters are 4mm neo so I wear them most of the time. They have 3 hard seasons on them. I don't have any complaints and will buy another when these wear out. The brush tuffs are ok too but I like the herters better.

I have a pair of 5mm brushtoughs and I love them. They are the warmest things I have ever worn.

THE BRUSH TOUGHS ARE NICE BUT IT IS HARD TO GET COLD IN 5MM NEOPRENE WHEN ITS A 71 DEGREE AVERAGE DURING OUR WONDERFUL DUCK SEASON, MY CHOICE WADERS WERE 1 PAIR OF LACROSSE BOOTS, 1 PAIR CAMO BOXERS, AND A MOSQUITO SUIT TOPPED OF WITH A DU HAT.

I had a pair when I was 10 that lasted me until I was 14. You know daddy bought the boots a litlle big. But since that time I've had Lacross, hodgeman, rocky, Itasca, Neopreme, brushtuff and I can't get a pair to go over 1 year. Last season the pair of Itascas I had were leaking in the crotch and about three other places in the seems. I tryed to shogoo it but didn't work. So I got a pair of the brand new Lacrosse brushtuffs. Hunted four days in them. The forth day I was very wet with a nice tear in them.
I got a brand new pair same brand, same kind before this season and still have my fingers crossed and am knocking on wood, but they haven't leaked.

waders

Postby jdbuckshot » Fri Jan 23, 2004 12:21 pm

i have a pair of 5mm cabelas that cost 99 bucks, they aren't really great they just have the one pocket on the chest. but i have had them for 4 years and walk creeks, sloos and briar pathes, they are the toughest waders i have ever put on. and they are plenty warm for here. i WOULD NEVER buy another pair of hodgemans. last year my dad gave me a pair of duramags, they are supposed to be the waders of all waders, and they leaked in the crotch after 4 hunts, so i sent them back and they sent me a new pair and they leak in the leg after one hunt. The seams on hodgemans SUCK do not buy them. im sending my second pair back and getting me another pair of cabelas and a pair of hip boots!

I had a pair of canvas waders between dad and myself they went through 26 years of duck hunting!! Then it happended...Hit a cut-off limb submerged iin about 3 foot of water...SLICE..right through the thigh....it was about 14 degrees..and COLD...Needless to say I own Lacrosee Brushtuffs..after having 3 pair of Lacrosse FLyway series..(they suck!!!) The only probelm with the Brushtuff are the boots are so big..get in some gumba..and you've got a club foot!! Other than that..it better be cold cuz it's tough to wear them in Teal season...1200 grams of Thinsulate in the boot..probably could wear them on the moon....
I may go to Heaven, or I may go to hell....But one thing is for certain..It'll be after Duck season!!

Bought a pair of Hodgemans last year. One season and they already leak in the crotch! Not fun to find out in cold water. Gonna send back and see what happens.

been using this same ole pair of lacross brush tuff... paid about $300 bones back in 97 if im not mistaken... been through alot with them.... been in some bad bad thick stobby places this year... last weekend.. it felt like i had been shot with bird shot... water in both boots up to my nads... luckily it wasn't cold.... can't complain... been good to me for this long... prolly stick some goo glue gunk on it... seams are the problem...

hell it aint hunting unless someone is miserable.. but why does it always have to be me?? why am i always the one to fall down/forget the shells/gun jams/fall out of boat/drop keys in water/drop camera in water/drop gloves in water at beginning of hunt/step on duck calls/hang on nail wearing waders ????? yeap thats me.. im always that guy... hope you SOB's enjoy me being me dammit !!!
