Ok, now to the comical part. We had been in the blind about an hour and a half when a doe came out. She IMMEDIATELY picked out the blind (ameristep...not knocking them, just clarifying what type blind). She took a step or two towards us stomping her foot and blowing up a storm. I got the gun out the blind and told him to shoot her in the neck before she leaves. He him-hawwed around, wanted me to put the gun to my shoulder so it would kick me (more about the KICK thing later), but he would pull the trigger. I told him I couldn't do that and he needed to shoot the deer. Well, he got to looking through the scope at the deer and she was still blowing like crazy. This rattled him pretty good. Anyway the deer ran off and as far as I know she's STILL running around out there blowing. Hunter later owned up to the fact that he got a little scared because the deer was stomping her foot at him and GROWLING. Never heard of that before, but I guess I could see where it would rattle him. I decieded I would trick him into shooting the next deer we saw by telling him I could turn the recoil down on the gun to where it would feel like the pellet gun he shoots all the time. I accomplished this by (remember this trick) adjusting the recoil setting on the scope that goes from 3 to 9....you know the one. Anyway, it gets dark and we sneak out to the bean field to see if any deer have snuck in from the back side...and sure enough 2 had snuck in. One ran off and the other ran to the edge of the woods about 50 yards away from us and was looking dead at us. I told him to put it on her neck just below her head and shoot her there. He said "I got it on her" and before I could remind him to "squeeze" it off he had already squeezed it off. BLAM, I wasn't expecting that so I'm a little blinded by the muzzle flash (which he thought was cool by the way). We start down the lane to the deer and sure enough there she was, laying dead in her tracks. He is STILL talking about how the gun didn't kick him at all!!!!
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
