Hunting Clothing Question

Guys,

What do you like for outer garments and layering garments in cold weather. I just ordered a Rivers West outfit and can't decide if I like it or not. It is suposed to be water PROOF and wind PROOF, but it is not as quiet as they advertise. I started to order some of the Cabelas MT050 stuff, but can't decide. Is the Under Armour stuff all that it is advertised, or more of a name? Give me some feed back.

I love my Cabelas MT050. I bought it to wear as an outer layer on a Mannitoba goose hunt and have recently bow hunted in a good rain in it. It is the first "rain suit/shell" that I actually stayed dry in. I can't speak for any of the others.

+1 on the Cabela's MT050. I've had the parka and bibs two seasons

a buddy of mine ordered the cabelas mt50 and got the windproof fleece and said its the best thing he has even worn we went one day last year on a COLD day and all he had on was the jacket and pants and a pair of shorts and t-shirt. under armour is the best under garmet in my opinion but it is pricey the only way i got what i have was from baseball in college but its great for bow hunting and cold weather also.

Not sure about the Cabelas MT050 but the Under Armour stuff is the real deal. Got some Cold Gear base layers for X-Mas last year and love em....

Good info guys.....you typically can't go wrong with anything produced by Cabelas. I ordered my Rivers West stuff at Van's. It is actually cheaper than the MT050 stuff from Cabelas that I was wanting. I just don't like the tight fit of the UA stuff, but I guess I am going to try some of it out.

Under Armour is coming out with a line of loose fit cold gear but it will not be available till next year

The MT050 and the outfitter's fleece with wind stopper is exactly what I wore in Mannitoba and what I will wear on the nastiest of days this year deer hunting. I have never felt that comfortable in wind and wet. I also had on the UA compression cold gear stuff. The bomb.

I actually thought they had some, but it must have been the Heat Gear. You wanna see something funny and that is a big fellow like me in that tight fitting Heat Gear. Man what a sight!!

ive got some silk long johns that the military issues out. not real sure who makes it but its similar to under armor just not real tight fitting and it works great. only problem is once you get up and move around alotyou get hot fast.

I like to use under armor long johns for y bottom layer. It evapoates water so youll stay pretty much dry as long as its not pouring down.

The tight fit is what makes it work so well. It holds the heat in. Loose fit items let air in and out and therefore lose the heat. You've got to give on one or the other.......either get accustomed to the fit or get accustomed to being cold.

i've got the walmart cold gear (ok for ms cold, but not utah cold), cabelas silk heavy weight (warmest i've ever worn), cabelas thermal gear, and under armor...even though it is tight, under armor hands down for fit and comfortable cut, especially the tops.
