Postby champcaller » Wed Oct 28, 2009 6:16 pm

need your help fellas.

ill be turnin 21 january, 1st and a bunch of us are gonna go to new orleans for the night so i decided it would be best to go ahead and book rooms.

our plan is to take the train from jackson to nola and have a good time on bourbon street that night and we'll need a hotel.

what is a good hotel that's fairly priced (100 or so a night) thats whithin walking distance of bourbon street?

any tips would be appreciated.

what you call walking distance?

I've stayed at the Comfort Inn or Comfort Suites on Poydras that was inexpensive. It's not a couple blocks from Bourbon, but we'd walk to and from without any problems.

I was down there last Feb for the Golf Course Superintendents Association Conference. We stayed in a Holiday Inn that was nice. Was about a block over from Burbon

I would get my room ASAP if I were you.

1) New Orleans is a party town and it will be New Years (as if anyone in New Orleans NEEDS are reason to party).

2) It is the same day (January 1, 2010) as the AllState Sugar Bowl.

If rooms are available now, you better jump on them.

I like staying at the Inn on Bourbon, but it is already booked up.

you may have a tough time getting a room. You might be better off to pick another date, a week later and you will have more money to drink on. The Sugar Bowl usually requires a 2 to 3 night stay and those rooms are not cheap. We just went and stayed at the Hilton Garden inn French Quarter. It is across Canal from Burbon but plenty close enough and a satfe walk.

There is also a Hampton inn around the corner.

I perfer the Royal sonesta but it can be expensive but your are staying 1/2 way down burbon.

Hmm...or next time just call me since I live in New Orleans and spent two nights on your sofa last week. I will figure out the hotel, just relax.

IF you go without girls, sugar bowl time can be VERY VERY VERY productive if you know what I mean. GRowing up that was by far my favorite football game in the city. If you bring your own girls that's a big drawback. I can't think of anyplace within walking distance that you could say without a minimum stay and cheap. You can try some of the smaller hotels, they may not have a minimum stay, but they may be well over $100. Good luck..
