duck band question

Postby ducktrooper » Tue Dec 15, 2009 12:51 pm

I was fortunate or lucky to kill a double banded greenhead this AM. One band is green with $50 reward and other is from Laurel MD. Is this pretty rare or not unusual? I've killed 4 previous single bands but never a double. Thanks.

Is it rare??? I mean take a single band and multiply that by 2! Plus you get to buy me a nice steak with the reward band money for explaining how rare it is to you.

It was really strange seeing two b/c the dog had the bird in his mouth and we stared at the one band not even looking at the other leg which was tucked back. Couldn't believe it when discovered the second band...a big green band to go with the silver. Could be an older bird I figure.

Most of the bands I have say Laurel, MD. on them. However, when the certificates came in it showed the birds being from all over North America. I've killed 2 banded wood ducks in different seasons and they've both had Laurel, MD. on the band. So perhaps the company that makes most of the bands are located in Laurel, MD. Just a thought.

Why are you so so sure of this? I'm just wondering because I'm pretty sure I've seen Laurel, MD on a few bands.

if i killed a duck with a bounty band it would prob have to be atleast 1k for me to send it in, a green band sure would look good between my yellow and silver.. HEII YEAH IT's rare, keep it! Man, they are messing with you, most of the bands from the mississippi flyway are from LAUREL,MD.

The banding lab is in Laurel, Maryland. You call in the number from the bands to find out where they were banded.
