I'll rate mine a 7... oh wait... we're talking about ducks, dammit I thought we were talking about crappie.

If I were to rate it on killing big numbers, I would say it was piss poor. I however will look at the big picture, glass half full. I got a buddy of mine back into duck hunting this year after not hunting for 5 years. We had a blast, spent time with other friends and family in the fields and pits, and boats. I will say this year has made every year leading up to it in my lifetime, seem like a spectacular year. I am ready to wet a line now, paper mouths should start biting in a month or so. Lookin forward to next season, gonna start scouting in a couple weeks.

I am with Lawdog it was a ten. All the way around. Couldn't think of a better way to spend my time and I have to do it in the good and bad duck number days.

One word somes it up for me, slow. We had ducks show up the last two weeks of the season made it bareable. Its pretty bad going from no ducks to late season ducks. We had few that dumbed right in. The river was by far the worst I have ever seen it fields were no go until mid january. We hammered them one weekend in some timber in the big freeze and that was the highlight of the year. Did have one pit that yielded a whole 6 ducks. Havent got an idea on the game plan for next year but I know one pit thats out of the rotation.

Rated: 10

I guess I'm with lawdawg and Mossy, mine was pretty dang good all things considered. I only had 1 bad hunt that comes to mind, and that was account of many varibles, most out of my control. Other than that hunt, and my first hunt of the season, I throughly enjoyed myself. I was able to make the long walks to the far banks, watch ducks work my spread, and killed a few too boot.

Now deer hunting, well that's a sore subject right now LOL.
If I don't do it, I ain't gettin nun.......So i'm doing it

I can't complain too much. I enjoyed being able to hunt as much as I did. My freezer is no where near full. If I would have known that the second half of the season would not yield as many deer, I would have shot a few more early on instead of hunting for horns. The ducks did not do real well for us. I did enjoy going with all of my crew. I hope next year we will still be able to go as much as we want to. Seems everybody I know spent more time in the bedroom than the blind this year. All my crew, including myself, has either had a child or pregnant right now.

Total for the season: 19 ducks, 1 deer, and 1 hog.

With you on this one. Think I killed about as many ducks as I ever have and pulled the trigger less. Didn't even hunt the last two weekends. LawDawg can confirm they were where we were in full force during that freeze. It was nice to know there were still that many birds alive that made it down this far. Got to take a younger guy and let him kill a few greenheads to salvage his season. Best mallard shoot he had ever been on. Even got him to let the susies pass. Got to hunt with a couple of friends I've known for several years now but never made it to the blind with them until this year. One of them a seasoned hunter that said "don't shoot the hens" about 30 seconds before he folded one. No names to protect the guilty. Found some new holes on public land that really produced well and a couple to try out next year. Just a good overall experience this year and to boot it was all on public land.

3... never really got on em worked about half as many ducks as we did last year, not to mention freezing our booty off on many mornings only to be disappointed.

Rate it an 8 --- I can't go by myself much anymore because of the heart attack a few years back, but anytime you can go with old friends, the son, and new friends, that makes up for the lesser numbers. It becomes a matter of quality, the older you get.

i would rate it a 2 as for the number of ducks. this was my tenth year to duck hunt and this was the worst season i have seen yet. we did have a good time and killed a couple decent deer though and as always we have lots of fun at camp and getting ready to hunt. it seems like the more time and money i put into it the worse it gets. not going to give up though.

I'm always glad to have had the opportunity to spend time in a blind or on a stand regardless of my kill rate. I will, however, rate this the cheapest duck season I've ever had! Only bought MS and AR stamps, one box of shells, and three tanks of gas!

Consistently killed good numbers of ducks up until the freeze hunting in MS & AR. Since the freeze I had one decent hunt.

It had to have been better than last year. At least you didn't lose a boat this year.
