.....just as is the assumption that Laurel, MD is where the bands are 'made'.....'don't know about that.......

Laurel Maryland is where the Bird Banding Laboratory is located (Patuxent Wildlife Research Center) and records are housed. You can find information about the BBL on the following link:

http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/BBL

If you have trouble navigating to the 'report a band' online reporting service....it's:

http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/BBL/homepage/call800.htm

The new reporting system will allow you to fill-in the 'recovery' information and tell you when and where the bird was banded. there is a 'comments' section of the form that you can insert other details about the bird including the nasal marker. State the color(s).

Congratulations on your band recovery....and nasal marker. I would think those are kinda unusual. Don't worry about the ribbing......everybody had to learn the truth about bands at one time or another.....even those that think they know what they're talking about.....(including me).

That's cool. If I had seen that on a hen coming into my spread I would have flipped her. If anyone says they wouldn't - I call BS  congrats on the trophy!

I think he should get his ear pierced and wear the nasal saddle as an ear ring.

Congrats, that is a very cool trophy. I would have to think about mounting her with the band and nasal thing both in place.
